I recently bought a Chris Craft Catalina 291, year 1985, with twin MIE
320 inboard engines.
The boat is in pretty good condition for the age, but i need to do some
work, also on the engines.
Since i have no idea where to get any kind of information from, there
was no documentation
with the boat, i would like to ask - does anyone have anything more than
what Chris Craft
has sent to me via mail - the Spec sheet from 1985 of the boat ?
A complete set of docu would be nice, but every little hint or link
would help.

On each of the engines is a label, which suppost to show - i.e. Serial
number, model number, etc
the label exists, but besides the modem number MIE-230 on one of the
engines, nothing is readable.
Does anyone know a good source parts on the internet ? starting from
rebuild Mercruiser engines to
trim tab system. I know some of the big ones, but i am looking for
more reasonable prices.

My goal is to get the most of the work done through the winter period,
guess thats what
everybody at least plans to do.

Thanks a lot in advance,

Joachim S. Zimmermann

If it's manuals your looking for----As with most all boats the component
manuals were supplied by the component manufactures and some are still
available by contacting them. The main boat manual was rather generic-things
like boat storage,bilge blower usage,fiberglass care,etc.

as i listed in my original contents, the manuals are one part i am looking for,

but apparently Chris Craft was not able to help. I did contact them and got
a Spec sheet from 1985 of the boat, no manuals or any other information.

Anyone out the with the same type of boat, please contact me.

regards

Joachim

Hi Doug,

i have tried this already and got a spec sheet back.
Chris Craft apparently "switched" owners around 1990, therefor,
as i was told, there is not much left of the older boats.
If anyone is out there, willing to provide me something, copies
or originals, please assist.
The other thing is, where can i find parts that fit the boat,
i.e. new sealing kits for the glass windows in the boat ?

thanks

Joachim

The cabin front and side windows were originally sealed with a type of
gasket that did not hold up well. It has been common practice to replace
them with marine grade silicone.Make sure to apply a LARGE bead of silicone
as the window frame to fiberglass fit is rather irregular.Use masking tape
on the fiberglass at the outline of the window frame and the excess silicone
will squeeze out on the tape instead of all over your gell coat. Make sure
you completely clean the window frame and the mating surface-DO NOT use
cheap silicone.
