Thanks for a sobering post. It would be helpful to all to know the
details of what happened - What kind of boat? Was it an installed
genset or a portable generator? If it was installed, HOW was it
installed? If portable, how was it being used? Was it the generator at
all? How did this happen? If you see a follow up article or more
details, please let us know.

Sorry, I've not yet figured out how to post
a URL. Guess I will ask someone. If I get
any additional info on this tragedy. e.g.
boat/genset info etc. will post it.

To post a URL, just type it into the text of your post, preceded by http://

You can also post the text of a web page this way: right-click on it, then
pick View Source. It will come up as a document, probably Notepad. Cut and
paste it into your post, then edit out the HTML code.

I presume this occurred as a result of a LPG stove or heater or other
type of gas heater/cooker.

We (New Zealand) have had similar tragedies involving gas cookers/stoves
inside tents out in the great outdoors. It is something many never think
of and I guess the warnings are not exactly obvious.

Personally I do not allow any gas appliance to be operated in my boat or
in our tent when camping choosing to use these in the open air only.
