Inflation Rate Is Worst in 17 Years

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Higher costs for energy and food last year pushed
inflation up by the largest amount in 17 years, even though prices
generally remained tame outside of those two areas. Meanwhile,
industrial output was flat in December, more evidence of a significant
slowdown in the economy. Consumer prices rose by 4.1 percent for all of
2007, up sharply from a 2.5 percent increase in 2006, the Labor
Department said Wednesday. Consumers felt the pain when they filled up
their gas tanks or shopped for groceries. Prices for both energy and
food shot up by the largest amount since 1990.

Harry,
Since I know you are not just trolling for a long political argument, so
you can hurl childish insults, maybe it would make more since just to
ask if anyone does not know how to read a newspaper or News web site.

That one you won't have to cut and paste every news article, and
everyone will know how to keep up with current events.

It will make your life so much easier.

According to some sources, this is precisely the reason they want our
weapons: To protect the royals (who *are* the "government") from their own
people.

We once sold weapons to Iran to help "protect" us. We gave weapons to the
Taliban. We sell weapons to Pakistan. It's all very stupid when viewed in
the context of history, which our current president seems to know nothing
about.

The problem is that there are arms sales whores all over the world, and
the purveyors have no interest in breaking the cycle. The Saudis have
the bucks and the oil to buy whatever they want from whomever they want.

I really thought that after the debacle in Vietnam, we might have
learned some lessons about proliferating weaponry and warfare. Nah.

Sorry, Bilious, but the Democrats do not control Congress. They have
simple majorities. When you control Congress, you have supermajorities,
enough votes in your own party to control legislation and to overturn
presidential vetoes.

Not to worry. Next January, the Democrats will control the White House
and increase their simple majorities in Congress.

Unless your write-in campaign for Zell Miller or some other lunatic

What economic policies there are in place now are those of the Bush

Lots of things seem "stupid" in the Monday morning quarterbacking of

based on the conditions at that time and the inertia of foreign
relationships don't change overnight.

The basic problem on this group is too many northern boaters with
nothing to do for 6 months of the year (with apologies to those doing
January sea trials in New England).

So it looks like you are getting as far away from home on this trip as you
did on the previous trip up north (Spring to Fall).

Why the need to get out of Dodge just after getting home? ;-)

The last time I actually saw Herring, several years ago, he was gasping

Seriously, Doug, what are you trying to extract from these fleegs?
There's not much there, and if you expect them to multitask in their
grey matter, you're reaching.

That's not bad news for the GOP or the other party of federal predators.
That means your rulers, or keepers, if you prefer. It's continued bad news
for the sheep (and other forms of virtual livestock) that will shuffle to
the polls and cast votes for much more of the same. Change?
Hahahahahahhaha - a change in who is sticking it up your rears. What
difference does it make which syndicate of scum and predators holds the long
end of the stick??

The population of the US is responsible for the demise of what was the
United States. Watch in November ..... same old sh&%, different names. The
sheep are screwed again, not the rulers.
