Dear PWC Enthusiasts,
I bought new Polaris SL750 water craft in July of 1995. Until a
few weeks ago I was very happy with my purchase. The craft ran well, and
handled (in my opinion) exceptionally well. I have ridden many other
personal water craft and was glad I purchased a Polaris product.
May 27 my craft was involved in an accident. There was
considerable damage to the haul, so I priced a new one (after all my
craft is practically brand new). I priced a new haul at approximately
$2000.00. When I tried to place the order , I was told a corporate
decision had been made to no longer sell new hauls. If the haul is
damaged, the craft is totaled.
You can imagine how distressed I was after hearing this. I
thought surely there must be some misunderstanding, so I tried to call
Polaris. When I did so, I became down right angry. No one would even
talk to me. The secretary said she was not permitted to give out any
phone numbers, under any circumstances. All she could do was give me an
address to write to.
If this is the way Polaris runs their company and treats their
customers, I can not honestly recommend their product to anyone. When I
bought my Polaris, I was told that their hauls are constructed
differently than the other crafts on the market. This much is true,
however I was led to believe the Polaris is stronger. The damage to
the Polaris was the result of being struck by a Sea Doo. The damage to
the Sea Doo was $489.95 and the Polaris was $6840.00. Clearly the
Polaris is anything but stronger. I thought your readers, and potential
PWC buyer's would like to know what kind of support they can expect, if
they purchase a Polaris product.
PS. I wrote Polairis on June 10. They have yet to respond.
FORMERLY PROUD POLARIS OWNER,
Martin R. Olding
