I'm looking for top speeds of similar 27' Sea Rays with the
7.4L engine. Please include your prop specs, weight of boat
(if you know it), accessories (A/C, genset, etc), outdrive
gear ratio, and anything else you might deem important.

I'm trying to determine if there's something wrong with
my Sundancer or not (see my next post).
My top speed is ~29mph with a Bravo One OD, 15pitch SS prop,
A/C, genset, bilge heater, water heater.

Thanks,

Steve

My buddies 270 hits ~31 or so with 4 of us on board, with similar
specs. Why don't you pop down to the dealer and ask a tech? Or better,
see http://www.searay.com and goto the contact page, click on
Sundancer and ask them...They are always willing to answer my stupid
questions and usually respond via telephone...at no charge of
course...(they usually call on the second day after you place the
request)

31mph for a 27 foot boat with a 7.4L engine sounds very low. I wonder if your
friends boat is running properly. That boat should do at least low 40s with
said power.

$.02 worth: I'm running a 250 Sundancer, new this summer, with the small
block 5.7 L Mercruiser, single engine. It consistently tops out at over
40mph, and up to 43 with several people and bimini top up. (I realize this
speed is not recommended for the top...) I'm surprised and pleased, ...and
pretty much verified this with GPS. I would expect the 270 with a 7.4 should
do a lot better than 31 mph. Marty in New Jersey.

I have a 22' 75 Searay with a 302 that hits 38 mph. And it's not running
quite right. You might have a prob.

You should cruise at about 30 mph and top out at near 40 mph....Checked for
barnacles?

I had the same setup but my prop pitch was 26. Also check the B1 gear
ratio's. Standard is 2.0:1 but you may have something different.
