This doesn't happen to be the same Kurt Seebold whose dad raced in COBRA in the
70's , does it?
JJ
KURT!!!! How've ya been!! This is BK, aka Valerie from AZ~ LTNS......
here are the final results at Havasu - (I'm staying a week!)
The weather at Havasu was FANTASTIC!!! Smoooooth water, NO WIND...Can you
believe it??? (except for some very weird DEEP rollers that appeared from
nowhere from time to time -John Lane caught one or two of those, but held
onto the boat and kept upright amazingly)
Unlimited Tunnels (Champ/Mod-R):
1. Mike Seebold (Bud Light) Flawless race - kept consistent all 4 hours
2. Todd Beckman (Swedish Beauty) broke gearcase 10 mins from end - but
got back out on the course in 2.5 minutes!
3. John Lane (Valvoline/Merit Marine -right?) Raced nearly all day
Saturday with a hole in his left front sponson
4. Todd Bowden (Who was pushing hard to make up some lost laps at the end,
but these motors just can't hang it out that long like that) - He was in a
brand new Grand Prix hull
5. Carlos Kuri (Mexico City)/John Schubert (aka Juan Chupe') of Houston
TX - Telmex
Formula Two: (SST 120)
1. Jeff Holgate #109
2. Mike Witt/Mike Schubert of Houston Texas
3. Eric Johnson #37 (Who was towed in three times with a plethora of
problems - mostly fuel gremlins....Finally the tow boat even asked him for
a little gas-tow money! LOL!!!!)
(At the awards banquet, they mistakenly announced Max Toler (California Gold
#3) as 3rd place --- but checking the score sheets, it was found later that
Max had 91 laps, Eric had 95)
Formula Lights (sst 45)
1. Bill J. Rucker #3 from California driving a purple Hoffman
2. Ross Wallach #26
3. Steve Wilson (22 - our own Dean Wilson's brother)
4. Chris Henderson #86
5. RJ West #45 (West Brothers) of Northern California
Grand National
GN
1. Lance Haselrig #790
2. Either Larry Eckrote #238 (or Richard WIlliams #99 (?)
3. Robert (?) #47
(The race director went super fast thru this recap -- sorry if I got this
wrong)
Richard Williams was the only accident of the whole weekend of all
categories -- On Saturday the top 3 GN boats went into the far turn close
together, and #99 (in 3rd) drove too hard to catch them, caught a chine and
rolled --- Both driver and boat were okay.
Super Stock (SS)
1. Brian Bergeron #110
2. Dave Bryant #7
3. Phil Bergeron #116
Pit Crew competition:
Tie between two teams- Bud Light and California Gold
CrackerBox:
1. P-37 Gary Sornborger
2. P-77 David Kahn of Northridge Cal "Animal Cracker"
3. P-3 Jim Calton (Saturday, his rookie rider was none other than
Offshore Factory One driver, h82luz1, Mike Gordon who, after volunteering to
be rider for the first day of racing, asked "What is a crackerbox???"
ROFL!!!!!) Despite it all....Gordo did great!
The Red Hindman Best Dressed Crew award
Steel Marine
Offshore:
Only two boats stayed for Sunday's race (There were 3, but the F1 Warlock
disappeared after the Active Thunder "One Vision" showed up -- just kidding.
but where did he go???)
F2 Brett Seever (?)
F1 Mike Gordon and Steve Miklos
Announcer - Walt Yarborough, who has announced here since 1977~!!!
I wished there would have been more Offshore boats show up -- what a shame.
But I hear both boats who stayed to put on a show went home with a good hunk
of prize money! Way to go, guys! Maybe more will come on out next year.
Highlight of my weekend --- Boatkitten got to ride (TWO LAPS at 100mph+)
with the legendary Bill Seebold in his two seater champ
boat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY~! Im still smiling!
(pictures coming soon to my web site)

Just cause a guy sinks boat the first day, and roles it the second day he gets
tagged for life.
LOL My co-driver was in the boat the first day when it sank by the way. Glad to
know I left a lasting impression.
Hows everyone doing any how. e-mail me. I am after all a COBRA kid.

I'm using my mom's computer while I visit here.....my email is

BK is my nickname, which stands for Boatkitten - from my little white Kober
Kat, the "Hellkitten" (adopted boatniece of the legendary "Hellcat")
In real life I'm Valerie - formerly of Arizona and COBRA member--- surely
you remember me... Mod-C #431? Go cart races? Both of us rocking out to
ACDC "Thunderstruck" in my husbands truck in the parking lot of the hotel in
Parker? In the mid 80's I visited Merit Marine quite often.
Now do you remember? My feelings are hurt :(
Speaking of Kober Kat race boats --- Dave Kober was at the Havasu Classic
with his son Adam....that was so cool to see him again!

I'm trying to put a name with the initials.
Any hints?>>
Kurt:
BK stands for Boat Kitten and you may not have been around for that story. She
said her name is Valerie but nobody calls her that. To all she is just Val and
she scored for damned near everybody at one time or another! Sweetheart lady,
5-3 or 5-4, dark hair, outragous bod. NOOOOOW you remember!

I didn't mean to hurt my feelings. It came to me as soon as I hit the send
Button. I tried to reach into the screen to retract that post but it was
already out of reach.
Sorry Kitten. :)
E-mail me.

Thank you for the compliments Rick! ::::blushing:::
But for all the "non-marathon" types out there who might not know what
'scoring' a race with 100+ entries entails.....
Each boat in a marathon would need at least one (and possibly two) scorers
who are willing to sit in the bleachers in the heat or freezing cold for 4
to 7 hours (sometimes 9) and count each lap your boat makes..... and stay
there til 30 minutes after the race is over. Potty breaks had to be real
quick and you had to juggle your lunch between laps without spilling
anything on your scoring sheet.
Just wanted to clarify that I used to SCORE, but in a different way than
I'm sure ya'll are thinking about......LOL!!!!
Thanks for remembering Rick!

Like father, like son. Driver Mike Seebold and the Bud Light racing team
captured first place among the unlimited tunnel hulls during the 1999 Havasu
Classic this past weekend on Lake Havasu. His father, legendary Bill
Seebold, is a six-time Havasu Classic champion. "The Seebold family breeds
some talented endurance racers," said Jim Russell of Desert Steel
Motorsports, which hosted the return of the Havasu Classic after a six-year
absence.
Bill Seebold is now the team owner. Swedish Beauty, driven by Todd Beckman,
also is part of the Seebold camp and finished second behind Bud Light. The
event attracted about 2,000 spectators on Saturday and about 1,500 on
Sunday. Russell said he already is making plans for a Havasu Classic in
2000. Cost for admission was only $3. "My belief is that people expect a low
gate fee for an event in our area," Russell said. "We even had some people
complain about giving up three bucks."
The Havasu 100km Off-Shore Challenge marked the first-ever factory off-shore
competition on Lake Havasu. Brent Leach won the Factory 2 division and Mike
Gordon took first in the Factory 1 division. "We will have a large field of
factory off-shores next year," Russell said. "The lake conditions are
perfect for off-shore boats." In a bizzare finish, Bud Light and the
California Gold team tied for first place in the pit crew contest with exact
same times of 1 minute and 25.3 seconds.

> So you'll be racing in San
>Diego instead of Havasu?
Yes but I'm not too happy about it. San Diego/Havasu/October? Oh well at least
I finally got my first World Championships as an engine builder at what might
be the last Havasu World Finals. Actually we got 3 overall titles, 7 individual
titles, and our Crankshafts won a total of 23 World Titles. Whew, I don't think
I'll beat last year, but I'll die trying.

>>press boat?
I got to ride in the press boat on Sunday, but I wasn't running anywhere on
that day ---
I arrived early and camped out under the canopy until Billy launched his
boat.
I was in bad shape and barely made it to the pits. (Dehydrated and sunburnt
from Saturday, spider bite on toe AND on meds trying to recover from a cold)
BUT, on Saturday, I did RUN to get on the patrol boat (while waiting for my
turn in the press boat that I didn't get to go on til the Sunday)
I even yelled a bit as I waved them down because I thought they were heading
back out to the course, without me.
They nearly left because they were told a 'blonde' would be riding along
with them........figure.
The two-seater ride made me forget all about my ailments ;D
Great website! And congrats on all the victories! I think Laughlin in June
would be a super reunion place (June 5)
Here's my website too
