For those who are curious about the Prijon Fly, here are some of the
comments that I recieved from folks affiliated with Prijon in the USA:

"Hi Karl, the Fly is a real boat but will not be available in HTP plastic
until May or June. We have not seen the boat yet, but the dimensions are:
length 8' 10", width 24" with volume in the range of 55 - 60 gallons. My
understanding is that its design is sort of an evolution of the Hurricane,
although again, we have not seen one. It will be in the 1997 catalog
which
should be out in March or so."

(from a different person)

"Unfortunately we don't really know what the final shape of the Fly will
be,
though I expect to see it next month when I go to Europe. Basically it is
similarly sized to the Kendo / and I think the RMP is slightly bigger.
There is quite abit of volume in the cockpit of the fly, but I don't know
how big it is in the feet. The prototype I saw last summer had a rodeo
seat
that I could not get into but it seemed my legs would fit beyond it...
More
to follow. The Web site is a pre release info. Our catalog will also
have
more info shortly."

(back to my thoughts on the subject)

Given the outstanding quality of the Prijon boats (HTP plastic, etc.), I
may be willing to wait to see what this boat looks like, but Prijon will
be making a huge mistake if they don't get it to the States by March/
April -- June will be too late. Speaking for myself, I have a terrible
case of cabin fever, and I am anxious for ice out and Spring flows. A new
boat will be part of my "Rite of Spring".

I'm also very interested in the Wave Sport Godzilla. This may be a better
choice for a paddler my size (200lbs/6'1").

I too would like some info on both the Fly and the Godzilla. I agree that to
wait might could end up a marketing mistake. Alot of boaters buy a new boat in
the spring (March or even February). Also most boaters, myself included, will
buy a boat whenever they get the money (as in tax money). I just got an RPM
last fall, but I wanted it all summer. I got it in the fall because I sold
something and used that money for the boat. I think it took me about 48 hours
from time of sale to the purchase of the boat. Paddlers must be an impatient
group, or at least I am.
I would like to know if the Godzilla is out, or when is it coming out? Also
does anyone have much info on it. I am also a large boater. I am 6'2" and
about 220lbs. I like the RPM, but it wants to make my legs go to sleep. I am
still playing with outfitting on it. If the Godzilla or Fly seemed to fit me
better, I would consider trading, when I got the money.
If anyone has any more info on either boat, I'm sure the paddling community
would appreciate a post.

Thanks!!

Greg Isaacs

The Godzilla is due out March 1st. The Godzilla design is a large
person's rodeo boat, and supposed to fit somebody with up to a 38" inseam.
That's good news for those of you that are just to tall to fit into any
rodeo boat (my buddy is 6'6", and can barely squeeze into a Whiplash, but
not without horrible pain). The ideal weight for the boat will be in the
200-210 pound range, though will certainly perform well at a much wider
range (180-225 pounds). The design is supposed to be similar to the
Kinetic, but longer with more volume. I'll have one in a few weeks, so
when I actually get it I'll post a follow-up.

Prijon/Wildwasser's web site has a basic description of the Fly. The
composite prototype was seen duringthe Ottawa Rodeo/Pre-Worlds week in
Canada. See them at http://www.wildnet.com

I have been discussing the Godzilla with Eric Jackson. EJ has been
involved in the design of this boat.

Hope EJ doen't mind if I post his comments about the Godzilla

EJ's comments:

"I recommend that you wait and see the Godzilla that is comming out in
March.
It is a Kenetic designed for 190-200 lbs.. I have been working on the
design with Wavesport for the last six months. You can demo it when you
get here. You could fit into the Kinetic better than your RPM. It has
more footroom. It also has a better stern for your weight. It has very
little rocker though and the bow would be right on the water(sometimes
under) when you paddled foward unless on a wave.

You will have tons of room in a Godzilla, it is 8' 11"."

For a boater my size (6'1" and 200lbs), I think the Godzilla is worth
checking out.

I have paddled a composite Godzilla prototype, it looks like a larger Kinetic
in a lot of ways. I've not paddled an RPM, but sat in one, and the Godzilla
has quite a bit more foot room. I'm 6'-3", 38" inseam, size 11 feet, 190 lbs.

I'm now paddling a Fusion (also roomy) and am planning to buy a Godzilla when
available. It's the first rodeo-style boat I've paddled, and the only one
I've tried that I fit well in. I believe they will be starting to ship them
in March.

Having seen the Prototypes of the Fly that were at the Pre WOrlds in Ottawa,
I can try to better describe it. The boat is about 9 feet long with a
familiar rodeo shape, ie. high volune cokpit, low volume ends. It has very
similar lines to a hurricane and it is probably best described as a short
version of that boat.

If you are overly concerned about when you get your boat, the Godzilla is
definately a better idea. It will be available to dealers in Mar/Apr. It is
also probably better suited for larger paddlers than the Fly. at 8'11", 60
gallons, it works real well at accomidating large paddlers. We made sure to
make it fit the biggest of the big boys(I think we had a 6'4" guy with 36"
inseem and size 13.5 shoes try it and he thought it was comfy). If you want
more detail or have more questions, email me at akin...@cmn.net.

There are a couple pictures of the Fly at
http://www.prijon.com/catalog/ww/contents.htm The photos are a bit
indistict but I its at least better then nothing. Ooh the comments are
in German, but you'll find your way.
