Hey I have an Arluk III, love it today, hated it until last Friday.
Why?
The stinkin seat, that f%$^^in' foam throwin excuse for a seat.
Problem was after about 15 minutes my toes went to sleep and
that sleepiness worked its way back until everything from the
bellybutton down was out.
So I ripped out the hardbutt foam and put in my powerlounger,
I also put in a thermorest stadium pad to support my thighs.
Not only did the deadbutt stop but it lowered my center of
gravity about an inch giving much better stability. Now my
thighs fit the thighpads and my feet are finally at a happy angle.
The combination of people shapes is pretty wild so what makes
one person a happy clam just kills the next guy. Experiment
with everything except maybe your sawzall.
All the other stuff they say about the boat is true, dry ride,
doesn't crash down into waves, no real change in stability rates with
added load, wax the rudder ropes where they go through fittings etc,
not a hog but not exactly Nordkap speed.
There's a review of the Arluk IV in the winter '93 ( I think) issue of
Sea Kayaker mag, similiar fittings but different dimensions.
Good luck,
Tom

Interesting...I find that my Arluk III seat is the most comfortavle I have
used, at 6' & 175 lbs, relatively short legs for that height. As you say,
people vary.
