We've a lot of Yanmar-powered boats and dealers in our area and haven't
heard any complaints about them (other than the posting just previous
to yours about the Yanmar Oil leak.) Ours has given us flawless service,
but we only have about 200 hours on it.
I've never heard of the Isuzu marine engines or noticed one of their
dealers.
That would seal it for me.
But if the area you're going to use the boat (including any long trips
you might want to take) has more Isuzu dealers, go for it. I certainly
wouldn't want to have to send off to the manufacturer every time
something breaks.
Know that some of the Moorings boats have Yanmar, and they seem to be
everywhere, so expect that parts will be available nearby, if only at
their bases.

I have an Isuzu model Pices diesel in my Alajuela 33, and am reasonably
saatisfied with its performance. Being only two cylinders, it tends to
vibrate a fair amount. But it starts easily (some preheating necessary
on cold mornings), and with clean fuel, runs very well with almost no
visible exhaust. Because this engine is fairly uncommon, it may be
difficult to find parts. (Mine came with a complete set of spares
assembled by the previous owner). The Yanmar, presumably, wouldn't have
this problem.
