I need a good source (cheap) for 3/8 BBB galv chain in Charleston, SC.

New boat being commissioned there. Any suggestions appreciated. West
Marine want $3 a foot. Need a couple of hundred feet.

Try going to an agricultural supply warehouse. Agri-Supply
http://www.agri-supply.com/
has a location in Florence but that's a bit of a hike from Charleston.
There should be a similar closer. They have hot-dipped high tensile
chain which is exactly the same thing West Marine sells, only about 40%
of the WM price. You can probably find a similar deal if you look hard
enough.

Thanks for the lead. I checked out their site real good prices, a
dollar a foot cheaper than discount marine suppliers but unfortunately
they don't stock BBB, only proof coil and hi-test and of course my
windlass needs BBB.

I hope you don't consider WestMarine a "discount" store. It seems to
me they sell everything for just about "Retail + 20%" They have put
almost all their competitors out of business and now are able to stick
it to us. Moreover, they only stock what moves quickly from their
shelves and even their catalog is terribly lagging on any innovative
new products. They won't touch a new product until it has a well
established market which is quite hard to attain when they are the
dominant force. I see them as just a KMart without the low prices.
