I am told that the bridge at Marathon in Florida Keys is a fixed bridge with a vertical clearance of 65'. My chart kit (10 years old) shows it as 19". Did they build a new bridge or do I have an old chart?
Thanks,

The main bridge at Moser Channel (W 81 degrees 10') is 65 feet. There is
also a fixed bridge about 3 miles east of that one that has a height of 19
feet. Maybe you are looking at the wrong bridge. I though the 65' bridge
was older than 10 years.

The "new" Seven Mile Bridge was finished in about 1985 and is indeed
65'. Even the old bridge over that particular channel was more than 19'
I'm sure. The fellow was, as you said, probably looking at the wrong
bridge. Then there's the thing about using a 10-year-old chart . . .!

The old 7 mile bridge, which is removed at Mosier Channel but mostly intact is
probably what your chart is showing. many power boats use the channel on the
east end to get from the bay to the ocean and back without going all the way to
Mosier and its probably on the chart for their benefit.

my 17 year old chart ( I do have newer ;-) +
older ;-0 )shows fixed bridge hieight of 19' for Knights Key Channel
(the channel near the east end)
The old seven mile swing bridge Moser Channel showed 23' vert clearance
and has been replaced by the tall fixed bridge.

That pile of dated charts growing ?

Yes, The new Moser Channel bridge was built some time ago and has a vertical
clearance of 65". I have started a web page about boating on the Fl.
waterways.

I have completed the section on Destinations south of Government Cut in
Miami. This gives advice for navigating the ICW through Moser Channel,
based on personal experience. I hope you find this helpful.

Jerry,
The Moser Channel bridge near Marathon is fixed and must have a clearance of
over 60' (do not have the appropriate chart on hand just this minute), since I
have gone through it with my ketch's 60' mast height with plenty to spare, last
time just about a year ago.
Get new charts.

Mariners be advised of channel marking changes in the Moser channel
area of the Fla Keys. Number changes and up to 25 new markers are
being installed as aids to navigation .
For more info (not infinite detail) check the twice weekly mid keys news
paper Keynoter, go to the site and scroll down to the second story
"Boaters Should Update Keys Charts"
http://www.keynoter.com/news_mar25.htm

The Sanctuary and the county are working together so expect lots NEW
markers being installed which will change the number sequence along the
channels, as the article mentions they will be working east to
west/north to south with the changes,(Key Largo- Key West) but are
starting with Moser channel.
