Does anyone know what the fuel consuption would be for the Crusader 454 gas
engine in a 37' Silverton Yacht. I'm looking at buying one and was
wondering what to expect.

Running wide open you can expect to burn about 30 gallons an hour, per
engine. Throttle back a bit and expect 20 gallons per hour.

Recently a person in our Marina bought a 38ft. 1980(?) Chris Aft Cabin with 454
engines and he reports "almost" 2mpg at his chosen cruising speed of about
8mph. Of course if he puts the thing up on plane look out !!

I have a 1990 34 exp w/twin 454 and get about .7 miles to the gallon at 3200
rpm on a calm day at 22 mph. My dry weight is 16,500 lbs. so this is with some
gear and 250 gallons of fuel. I also have trim tabs.
Hope this helps.
