Are there any people out there who are planning to attend the Chicago
IMTEC show at the end of the month? I'm just curious to see what kinnd
of different boat people will be attending the function. I would love

Hello Chris,
I'll be there to attend the show and also as a student for the
Westlawn Student Design Conference. The anxiety is getting to me, but
perhaps for an ulterior reason.
I was born and raised in the Chicagoland area. Moved to the SW
Illinois area about a year and a half ago. I miss the big pond, and I
miss my friends and family, but of all the things I miss the most, it's
the Italian Beef Sandwich!!!
The food one can get around the Chicagoland area is, at least
IMHO , some of the best food in the world!
So if you're there, and you see a guy with Italian beef gravy
stains on his shirt, and giardinara stuck in his graying beard, that'll
probably be me. And after the show, it's out to one of the Japanese Steak
Houses for Steak and Egg Yolk Batter Shrimp. I'm going out and gassing up
my Suburban right now!
If I'm lucky, one of my buddies will still have his boat in the
water. A Coho or a couple jumbo perch would make a great shore lunch, and
bring me back home!
I dunno, maybe I should have picked Food Service for a carreer.
I've just never been this hungry in the forty six years of my existence.
Anyway, back to the show. As a student of Yacht Design, I'm
looking forward to coming home with as much info as possible from
exhibitors, especially component systems.
Unfortunately, for we students, they have a relatively full
schedule planned for us, and I'm not sure if I'll have time to visit all
of the exhibits. We'll see.

Hope to See You There,
Russ

Peggy,
Does this mean that you won't be there?
I was looking forward to meeting you or someone from Peal
Products.
Marine Sanitation Devices, although not as glorious as twin
turbocharged, thousand horsepower powerplants, are still of dire
neccessity. I think you can ask anyone and still get the same answer.
I could use any info available. If it's possible, assuming Peal
Products will not have a rep. there at the show, is there any info you
could offer to a student?
I fully understand that "Design" is virtually a trade, and nobody
wants to give away some of their secrets, but I've always believed in the
philosiphy that "In order to learn, Teach".
Hope to see someone at the show, if not, please let me know if
you can offer any advice.
Thanks In Advance,
Russ Schweger

Why am I suddenly seeing my (and a few other people's) posts reposted by

but I don't think I need to say it more than once! :-)

We don't go to IMTEC...Since we're distributors and not mfrs, we don't
have any reason to exhibit, and there's just not enough in our highly
specialized field there that's new (only a few major manufacturers with
whom we already have long-standing excellent relationships, and there
haven't been any innovations in marine toilets or treatment devices in
years!) to justify the expense to attend. All those manufacturers who
are our suppliers will be there though, so you'll have plenty of
opportunity to see everything that's out there.

You're right that sanitation is of major importance, at least to boat
owners...I'm not so sure it is to boat builders...more than 10 years
into the push toward making everyone hold and pump out, few if any of
'em have ever bothered to learn that sewage can't just be held like
water or fuel, it has to be managed, much less the most basic principles
of HOW to manage it. They continue to design and install systems that
cannot help but stink and give their customers bad advice and incorrect
information.

Do you have a copy of our booklet "Marine Sanitation: Fact vs.
Folklore?" If not, I'll be glad to e-mail you a copy. It will explain
more than you thought you needed to know about the laws, equipment
currently available and how it works, how to install a system correctly,
and odor--what really causes it, and how to design or modify a system to
be completely odor-free.

I will be at the Annapolis sailboat show next month...if you're in the
area I'd love to see you. Tent DO, booth 1-A
