Does anyone here buy Royal Wing Suet Cakes? They are the Tractor Supply
Brand. We have been seeing quality issues. I sent them the following
e-mail....

"We have bought your Royal Wing Bird products for years, from Seed to
Suet Cakes to Feeders. Some time ago, we bought a ten pack value pack of
mixed suet cakes. When we got down to the last few cakes, we noticed that
they were not filled completely. We assumed it was a quality error. This
past week we bought another value pack of Hi Energy Suet Cakes. None of them
are completely full. If I were cynical, I would think that the shortages are
intentional. I can provide photos, if you wish. Please restore my confidence
in the quality and value of your Royal Wing Brand."

Try weighing the cakes to see whether or not they match the stated weight of
each.

Does it hurt the suet to freeze it over the summer??? Got 7 packs left out of a 10 pack, now its warm enough the birds don't need the suet.

I don't think so -- we just put out a couple of cakes that I found in
the bottom a a refrigerator (not a freezer) that have been there since
we moved here several years ago (where they probably had been frozen or
refrigerated for some time).

I don't use lard in baking (or anything else) much anymore and I have
some (in the same refrigerator and history) that I used some of a while
back--nothing wrong with it (and I am not very tolerant of off-flavors
and colors).
