| Go to a gun shop and ask for a box of shotgun "mortar" rounds. They
usually
| come in 12 gauge. If you don't have a 12 gauge shotgun, borrow one. When
the
| noisy birds are going at it, put one in a shotgun and aim it up in their
| general direction and pull the trigger.
| There is a small "pop" sound as the primer in the bottom of the shell
lofts the
| mortar round up toward the birds and then a huge BOOM. The shell basically
| launches the equivalent of a cherry bomb which detonates out by the birds.
| You'll want to be about 50 yards from where you want the shell to
detonate.
| Animal control officers use them to chase flocks of pigeons, starlings,
crows
| or chase off 4 legged pests. No damage or injury, but it scares the hell
out of
| the annoying birds.
| If you live in a populated area, you should caution the neighbors that
you're
| going to scare the birds with a loud bang so the police aren't called. By
the
| way, there are no pellets in the shell, and as long as its fired into the
air,
| you cannot hurt the gun or anyone else. By the way, not only will it run
off
| the disturbing birds(might have to do it a few times if they're stubborn
and
| come back), but its a real hoot.

How about (drum roll please) "pusillanimous simpleton reprobate"?

One might want to check with local laws first, and get an idea
of how the neighbors would react to someone shooting off a gun
in the neighborhood. A seasonal glut of noisy crows might be
easier to live with than an angry group of neighbors sueing you
for menacing, disturbing the peace, reckles endangerment, etc.
I was reminded of this troll/thread the other day by a scene that
might help out whoever started it: a solitary crow was flapping
across a field, with about a zillion blackbirds chasing it. I
guess whichever blackbird was leading the flock (there had to be
at least fifty birds) decided to go over and harass the crow, and
the whole flock just followed it. So, if you really want to get
rid of the "ravens," just get ahold of a big flock of extra
aggressive blackbirds, and your first problem is solved :-)

I have heard that playing Hanson's
"Do Wap" song very loudly will so offend the bird's that they will happily
leave on their own. ( And these bird's may annoy you , but just think of what
your power mower does to them!) All things are relative. Peace.
