Seems strange and un-Corvid-like behaviour to me.
He (she?) just dropped by again, landing on the rail near the platform,
occupied only by a squirrel. It looked around as if to say "OK, whats
the deal here?"
It finally hopped on to the rim of the platform but looked every which
way (hopping to reverse itself on the rim) and finally grabbed something
and took off like he'd be shot-at. (What ever it took can not possible
replace the energy expended getting it.)
We used to have several Crows on the platform or the ground under it,
and in the lawns, but not lately much.

Now we have two Crows in the area, but the Turkeys have pretty much
taken over.
With a squirrel bulldozing in the snow like he thinks the Turkeys can't
see him.

Definitely at least two--wife saw two at the same time.
And, while I've only seen one at a time, I'm pretty sure there are two
individuals--one larger and sleeker, the other smaller and kinda frumpy.
Both are very tentative on and near the platform, as if to say "OK,
what's the trick here?"
And they seem sorta clumsy getting over the edge of the platform to grab
something and take off.
Now the Turkeys have taken over so all they will do is sit in the
mystery tree or pace on the hand rail.
The weather forecast is for seriously ugly tomorrow and the next day,
with son-in-law talking about driving to NYC tomorrow night to help
(different) daughter move her cats to California. [He is married to
middlest daughter, he is going to KCMO to get oldest daughter's car from
youngest daughter and then to drive it to NYC.]
Or something. In this weather, it all sounds dumber than a hammer to
me. Which is probably why I wasn't asked.
