Grant Peterson wants to be my friend on Facebook. I wonder 9if it's THE Grant Peterson? I didn't think that he was still alive but then most people probably didn't think I was still around.

He's very much alive but the entity spamming you could very
well be some jerk named Mohammed in a basement in Lagos. You
never really know, do you?

‘Friends’ on FB are no real friends. It is just a click on a keyboard and has no meaning.

I thought that Facebook had cancelled your account:
(May 18, 2023)
<https://groups.google.com/g/rec.bicycles.tech/c/PriXIwgyAR8/m/ZwLQotPkAgAJ>
"Facebook claimed that many parties were "threatening" or
disseminating "fake news" and canceled our accounts."

If you really need a friend, you could approve the friend request. If
it turns out to be a scammer, you can "unfriend" them later:

"How do I unfriend or remove a friend on Facebook?"
<https://www.facebook.com/help/mobile-touch/172936839431357>

Also, if the friend request from this Grant Peterson shows that he has
no "mutual friends" with you, then it's highly likely to be bogus.

It means one hell of a lot more than rubbish from the Stupid 4. If as Andrew suggests it might be someone actually named Mohammed living in an oasis in the middle of the Sahara he would still have something a great deal more intelligent to say about bicycles than Krygowski, Flunky, Liebermann or Slocomb.

That was a flippant comment based on the rich history of
social media.

Well, the picture was of Grant a little younger than I remembered him. But of course that could very well be Mohammed at play until I have a conversation with him.

It might be real if it were spelled Grant Petersen instead of
Peterson:
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grant_Petersen>
I think it a fair assumption that he should be able to spell his own
name.

Facebook lists some individuals named Grant Petersen. They can be
found, with pictures and details, at:
<https://www.facebook.com/search/people/?q=grant+petersen>
I don't know what he currently looks like but if he has an account
with a photo, it should be possible to identify the real Grant
Petersen.

Oops. You're right. A photo is not a good indication that the
account owner is real. Mis-spelling Petersen is either an obvious
clue or simply an indication that Tom can't copy, paste or spell.

I found 4 year old photo. Grant is on the right.

What sort of scam do you think that you could possibly pull off? Rivendell is a touring/general purpose bike that you have to go to Grant's shop to be fitted for. You would have to be pretty stupid to buy a custom fit sight unseen for the sorts of prices that Grant asks. https://www.wuwf.org/local-news/2015-05-08/grant-petersen-wants-you-to-eat-bacon-and-ride-your-bike

Why you might want to support some useless nobodies like the Stupid 4. Flunky is at least good for a laugh. Not to mention that Slocomb claimed that he never said that I wasn't in the Air Force and someone mailed and told me he has recently been saying that the entry in my resume saying I was in the Air Force was a lie. As I said before - my life started when I joined the Air Force and his ended. Then he claimed that after the Air Force, he worked for a large company. Well it turns out that company did regular maintenance of Air Force bases overseas and normally employs people like him to replenish the toilet paper, sweep floors, and other things that Air Force personnel are too valuable to do. It is like Dim Wit City in Stupid 4'sville

No Tommy, I never said that you had not been in the Air Force.

Yes Tommy, I have stated a number of times that the first entry in
your famous "resumes' is a lie.

No Tommy I didn't work for a large company over seas. I worked for a
company that did air base maintenance - roads and grounds, electrical
maintenance, both generation and transmission, and so on. The Air
Force took care of their own janitorial services.

Then after less then a year I left and went to Indonesia and worked
for a really small company doing oil exploration support work.

But to give credit where credit is sue, it was a nice try. Your
problem is that you don't know what you are talking about :-(

I don't recall stating that, but at any rate, there are people I know
of who I'd not want for a friend.. You, for instance, and obviously
Krygowski. Neither of you have anything worthwhile to offer.

I specifically said la-la-liberals..

So how do I define a la-la-liberals?

It's a liberal stranger who walks up to me and wants to be my friend,
or more specifically wants to ride with me so "we can visit."

I've actually had that happen.

No, a rational person who is a productive member of society (read: not a narcissistic sociopath like you) would say "yes, you can be my friend, give me your number and I'll call you sometime". I find it exceptionably difficult to believe you would attract the attention from anyone but the most mentally disturbed members of society.

Flunky is nothing more than a pencil necked geek pretending to be something he is not and never will be. As you say, he is a snarling Chihuahua. He can't even reach high enough to bite someone's ankle.

nope, it's called being polite. Yes, we know, you have no interest in polite society. We know you have no interest in any interaction where you don't see a material benefit.

You mistake derisive dismissal for anger. Not surprising given your complete lack of social awareness.

You have to think about just how miserable he is - he tells us he is an engineer but he has absolutely nothing to do and can answer anything on the group within seconds. Real engineer indeed.

This isn't my house. This is an internet forum that assholes like you, jute, and kunich keep polluting with stupid and ignorant personal grievances.
I call out hypocrisy and willful ignorance. If you don't like your flaws being exposed, perhaps try not to flaunt them so blatantly.

And you mistake derisive dismissal for hate. Your ignorant and unsolicited opinion is duly noted and summarily dismissed and an ignorant and unsolicited opinion.

No, I haven't yet sunk to your level. I don't believe I've called
anything nastier than "dummy." I acknowledge, however, that I once
insinuated that Krygowski was a "prick," but that was before I'd
understood his narcissistic disorder.

Perhaps the little Chihuahua that yipp and yapp at people are just
expressing their fear... But you, on the other hand, have nothing to
fea from me. I don't wish you any harm.

I attempted to do Redwood Road via the closed section - the roads department have done everything possible to thwart the passage of bicycles which they are not allowed to do unless the roads are entirely impassable. The California government on the 4th of July has taken Stalin as a person to emulate. Once onto the open section of roads the sheer amount of traffic was staggering. There was so much traffic on Redwood Rd. that cars coming up behind me had to brake and stay in place behind me until there was an opening where they could see far enough ahead to pass. When one car went around three would. I made it to the top where I would turn left onto Skyline and it was blocked off with a police guard meaning that there had been a major crime probably involving guns and then needed to keep the richest area in Oakland closed to look for evidence. This is the street that the previous governor has what is little more than a castle behind armored gates. I don't think that he lives there anymore because it is so much safer in Sacramento.

I was wearing my US Constitution Red, White and Blue flag jersey and the only people that passed close were Asian women who looked to be purposely getting as close as they could. Since I couldn't return via Skyline, I went all of the way down Redwood and the connecting streets to High Street and from there onto the Bay trail. Lots of walkers and runners and not a word of English unless I asked someone to move which was rare.

If there is major crime on Skyline in Oakland, there is nowhere safe.

What is odd about the heart rate monitor is that it appears to rise in the downhills after the large efforts. Not warm today but bearable climbing and in direct sunlight.

Suuuuure.....

"It becomes my business when somebody demands that I treat or address him/her in a manner that I deem inappropriate. I don't respond well to demands from strangers.

It also becomes my business, to a somewhat lesser degree when some guy wants to walk into a female's gender restricted space or when he wants to compete in a public female's gender restricted event. It would be to a greater degree if a female friend or relative might be in that gender restricted event or space."

I'd like to see the statute which confirms that.

because.....

or is closing down a road for a crime scene investigation a emulation of Stalinism?

<gawd>....So tommy was magically able to see every driver that passed him too closely to confirm their heritage and gender.....but liberals are the racists.
