TibetanMonkey, the Beach Cruiser Philosopher

I want my biographers to write down that thought. Quote me if you
will. Whether you are on a bike or kayak --or even on foot-- you are
fair game for the big fish out there. And they don't like you! We are
talking about the right of way on land and sea, because nobody is more
important than a monkey having fun. They go, "Look the monkey is
having fun!" And they come and attack.

Remember, the "pursuit of happiness" is at stake. We absolutely reject
the idea that the monkey is in the cage. And now it's time for me to
go on my legendary "monkey bike." (I got different bikes but this one
is a little big monster, 20" tires with the capacity of a cargo bike.)
In the near future though you may see me bypassing all barricades and
grinding sidewalks through the waterways. Yes, I may become the "kayak
philosopher." That's an ancient wisdom created by the Eskimos, as you
surely know. Most primitive people were wise because they didn't
overwhelm the environment with motorboats and trucks. And the Mayans
even invented the hammock to relax. Yes, they have the cure for
today's rat race.

But that's only my enlightened opinion.

Nobody challenges my wisdom without dire consequences and that usually
means "public shame." Anyway I researched this a long time ago in the
kayak forums and that's what I found out. In real life, in real life
who knows what's going on...

(I QUOTE)

My biggest pet peeve is listening to kayakers bitch about other boats
because "kayakers have the right of way".

Not quite sure where they learned this, but I can't find anything in
the rules that specifically gives the right of way to kayaks.

If anything, I see kayakers in designated channels impeding the
ability to navigate of boats that are already restricted in their
ability to navigate.

Sounds familiar? Drivers bitching about bikes. Such is the fate of the
little fish in murky waters.
