Did I claim that being a crew chief was important? Nope. I mentioned
it simply as a means of explaining what I was doing, just as you were
a tool box carrier :-)
But yes I probably did use the term "B-50", which were technically
"RB-50's" simply because that was the common term used by the people
who worked on them. And RB-50's were in use for reconnaissance by the
6091st Reconnaissance Squadron, which operated in Japan from 1953 to
1969.(their activities are still classified)
If you want to be very exact there were two versions the "RB-50B" in
use from 1954 till 1961 and the "RB-50G" in use during the same
period.
As an aside, three models of the B-52 flew missions out of Guam, the
B-52B, D and G.... but you, in your post you refer to them all as
B-52's.
