Is the Zefal Husky floor pump worth keeping?

I just bought a Zefal Husky floor pump (my little Zefal hand pump was
getting too much wear pumping friend's tires) and was wondering if it is
worth keeping. That is to say, is it a durable, good floor pump for the
money, or are there better ones for less (I don't want to spend too much
more unless there is a compelling reason)?

I am particularly interested in one that can last a long time - an older
Zefal plastic one essentially shattered on me after both feet on the
base snapped off. The Husky seems pretty nicely made, with full steel
construction (it sure is heavy enough!).

Thanks for any comments or information.

I bought one after my discussion with a bike shop tech. A buddy of mine was
test riding a bike, and I was looking around when I saw a Husky in the corner.
I asked the guy how he liked it and he said, "Works great, even after 12 years."
Now, how many pumps today, with all the plastic that's in them, will last
that long? I was on the phone with Nashbar the next day, had one two days
later, and have been nothing but happy ... :)

I've had nothing but frustration with my Husky. This has nothing to do
with durability, but with design.

I thinks the Husky's presta attachment is pretty lame. It doesn't work
as well as a dedicated presta pump does. Because the presta attachment
is shorter than, for example, a dedicated Silca, the pump head tend to
blow off the valve at high pressure. So, you have to pump with one hand
and hold the pump on the valve with the other. BUT, the Husky has a big
nut in the middle of the handle, so when you pump with one hand, you must
hold the handle on one side, which can bend the long metal shaft that
goes into the pump.

The Husky works great as a Schrader pump, but I'd pass if you use prestas
a lot.

The Silca attachment on the Husky has a metal "ring thing" which holds in
a rubber gasket. When the "ring thing" is tightened, the gasket is
compressed, making its inside diameter smaller.

Oops. I meant Presta, not Silca.

If your only complaint is about the presta adapter, why not buy a Silca
head ($6 last time I checked) and install that on your pump.

You can also buy a Silca head for the pump.
