Typical of Couric, part of the liberal media, trying to trip up an
honest candidate.

Clinton lied in office and laid the groundwork for the current
financial crisis. With Obama's buddy Frank Raines. And I don't
believe Obama's a muslim but you have to wonder.

Anyway it's refreshing that someone from outside the Washington
insiders like Palin, with real world foreign policy experience, is
finally going to be president. McCain proved again what a maverick he
is in his choice for president. Obama's not a Muslim but you have to
wonder.

Finally another poster who likes Palin. I love Palin she is hot and
she is going to De-queerize America with prayer. A few prayers from
Palin, and those strange anti-americans like Tom, who refuse to ride
uprights and wear helmets are going to be nice helmet wearing upright
cyclists. We will also go hunting freely in our communities. John will
be able to make good use of the squirrels and ducks at central park.
Also, if there is anyone who is weird in our neighborhood, who is not
a true loving, patriotic american, we will be able to call on a priest
to exorcise the hell out of them or run them out of town.

BTW, I can see Mexico from my office, from the freeway and from many
spots throughout town. That makes me qualified like gorgeous Sarah.
She shows that anyone can run for office if you have a bird's eye view
of a foreign country. I also like the fact that she is a hard working
mother who has time for politics. In the meanwhile her teenage
children are loving sex, drugs and rock and roll too much. My kids,
who are not teenageers anymore also like sexs, drugs and rock and
roll, but not to the extent that Sarah's kids like that.

I thought that the conservative motto is for women to stay at home
caring for their kids so they wouldn't get pregnant and do drugs and
grew up to be god fearing Christians. Palin beleives in being a
working mom but forgot to show her daughter how to put a condom on a
cucumber. She also forgot to talk to his son about doing drugs in
moderation. We all learn from our mistakes.

Long live Palin, and the exorcism of queerness, sex, drugs, rock and
roll, conservative nutcase christianity, aerial hunting of squirrels
in central park and a good view of kamchatka. Goes very well together.
If only Dali and Bunuel were alive.

IMO he needs to do a little more research... much more vehement and
stupid ranting is necessary. We should be able to clearly visualize
his face turning red, spit flying out his mouth, hands waving (etc)...
while he struggles (and fails) to put together a coherent sentence or

I was thinking what a great pair Bush and Palin would make. In any

Well Tom that is one pov. I'd like to contrast that though with this.
What would be "a very good thing for the country" is a fully engaged
electorate.
While on opposite ends of the spectrum, you and I suffer equally as a
result of the truly uninformed, uninterested citizens who vote _solely_

I think that's an important point -- they were softball questions --
at least on the economy. It was like throwing the ball to a todler
who turns the wrong way to make the catch, except that it was not
cute.

She should also have been able to answer the question about McCain's
record of reforming Wall Street (assuming he had one -- his economic
advisor Phil Gramm prevented regulation of credit default swaps).
Instead, she said (IIRC) "he's the maveric, ya know" in that kind of
Fargo accent she has going. And then she said, "I'll get back to you
on that." I'll forgive her on foreign policy since I don't know the
names of most world leaders and would only fault McCain for chosing
her for VP when she has no foreign policy experience. But I do fault
her for not knowing something about the economy and why it is
important to bail out (in some way) the market. I also love the whole
bail out issue since it has the conservatives chasing their
philosophical tails. Too bad the price of admission is so high. --

Socializing capitalism is expensive. I feel sorry for the real
conservatives, this bullshit must be twisting them into knots. I know
that is the case for the conservatives among my friends and family-
they've been irate for years and feel betrayed by the Republican Party.

I would love to see Palin face questioners as relentless as British MP's
at the "Prime Minister's Questions" [1] session.

Actually, if we had such a system in the US, Reagan and Bush II would
never have served second terms, since Reagan ducked every serious
question with a quip, and Bush II's handlers have made sure he has never
had to face serious questioning.

Hey! She can field strip a moose.... So she says!

BTW, a few details on the Bridge to Nowhere:

Ketchikan is southeasternmost sizable "city" in Alaska, 4.1 sq. mi. of
which 0.8 sq. mi. of it (18.60%) is water. That's 10.7 km² and 2.0 km² in
metric measurements.

It's the fifth most populous "city" in the state: population 7,368 in
2007.

The Bridge to Nowhere would have linked Gravina Island's 50 residents and
home of the Ketchikan "International" Airport to the "city" of Ketchikan
for a projected cost of $398 million USD.

The bridge was to have been nearly as long as the Golden Gate Bridge and
taller than the Brooklyn Bridge. It would have handled a projected 200,000
passengers a year.

In comparison, the Golden Gate Bridge carried more than 43,000,000
vehicles in 2006, or about 118,000 vehicles each day.

It appears that Moose-A-Lini has never seen a proposed bridge in Alaska
that she didn't like.

The proposed $600 million to over $1.5 billion USD Knik Arm Bridge which
would provide an alternate route from Anchorage to Wasilla, AK is still
alive and kicking!

The average commute time from Anchorage to the towns of Palmer and Wasilla
is about 36 minutes via existing freeways (autoroute, autobaun,
autostrada, autopista and so on). The average commute time througout the
rest of the US is around 24 minutes.

http://www.knikbridgefacts.org/

If you lived there it could save you 10 minutes each way when you go to
score some crystal meth! Speaking of which, have you ever noticed how big
and dark Moose-A-Lini's eyes are most of the time? Is she a tweeker?

Chas.

The Bering Strait is approximately 53 miles (85 km) wide and shrouded in
clouds much of the time. Unless Diomede Island it's unlikely that you
could actually see Siberia from Alaska.

Typical elititism, huh Mr. Sherman. The American people are tired of
your sort of attitude. A mountain of MBAs on Wall Street hasn't kept
us out of trouble. Maybe a little more Main Street and we'd be better
off. And it doesn't take a PhD to know that we've got to bring the war
on terror to them. You don't have to go to some big city school or
waste your time as a "community organizer" doing heaven knows what to
know that the war in Iraq is about right and wrong. That's why I'm

Yeah, and not only that, but that "community organizer" stuff sounds a
lot like communism to me. Last thing that we, god fearing white folk,
need is for a black to come and do "community organizing" in our

In the current political climate in the US, respect is neither earned or

the public arena.

I have. There was a great sign in the middle of town to help folks
forecast the weather: "If you can't see the mountain, it's raining. If
you can see the mountain, it's going to rain." The sign also said that
the average rainfall in Ketchikan was 13 feet a year. Is it still there?

I disagree because of the Couric interview. "Can I get back to you on
that?" Palin answered when Couric asked her to name the top five
achievements of her governorship. Sheesh!

But, seriously, I have a revelation that the real reason the GOP likes her
is because she is just like George Bush. Both of them stand for unthinking
stances with no need to think about the reasons for their stances. Both
value loyalty over competence, and both think they are appointed by God.
After all, Palin is the one who named a childhood friend to lead the
Agriculture position in the state simply because the woman likes cows....

I worry about the Chinese repo-ing the White House furniture. We
should sell Puerto Rico (and some of those radioactive atolls) to
generate some cash and then see if we can renegotiate the debt. Can a
whole country declare bankruptcy? BTW, what kind of collateral is
behind that bazillion dollar debt? Can the Chinese foreclose on
federal lands -- like most of Alaska? "Oh, me and the Maverick, wer
lern'n Chinese, ya know. Gonna teach 'em hockey. They tried to give me
some of that funny food they eat, but I said 'thanks, but no thanks.'"

They are afraid of the people who believe in the GOP destroying what's
left of a once great nation. If they could, they would reelect Bush.

Actually, the libs are afraid of her because she is going to be
praying their unchristian, sinning ways out of them. The libs want to
continue behaving, well, liberally. With Palin in charge they don't
have a chance. The power of prayer will have them lined up in a row
like ducks respecting American true christian values. The libs ove
gay, foreigners, colored and muslims and knowing that loving these
groups is a sin fear a righteous woman like Palin who will straighten
them and keep them in check.

"In an election campaign notable for its surprises, Sarah Palin, the
Republican vice- presidential candidate, may be about to spring a new
one -- the wedding of her pregnant teenage daughter to her
ice-hockey-playing fiancé before the November 4 election.

Inside John McCain's campaign the expectation is growing that there
will be a popularity boosting pre-election wedding in Alaska between
Bristol Palin, 17, and Levi Johnston, 18, her schoolmate and father of
her baby. 'It would be fantastic,' said a McCain insider. 'You would
have every TV camera there. The entire country would be watching. It
would shut down the race for a week'"

Speaking as a loyal American, I am so glad John McCain made this
mavericky choice that will help us celebrate the sanctity of marriage.

What's _left_ of a once great nation? My gosh Jobst, are the streets
in Palo Alto a blaze and in ruins?

I consider my sole blessed to currently reside in America. The
United States will always be the most dynamic (ever changing) nation on
earth as long as the spirit of a nation of individuals is left
unincumbered by oppression.

But there's the rub. Liberals despise independence and
individualism. And that's why Liberals fear the likes of Sarah Palin.
Because Liberals know she'll inspire a vast populace to stand up for
America.

Many Americans see themselves in the reflection of Palin family. They
routinely overcome the everyday challenges of life with hard work, love
of family and dedication to their communities . Never seeking, wanting
or expecting government to help them along their way.

Liberals must continually perpetuate the myth that government's role
is to enhance the lives of those on the extreme tips of the spectrum.
The "_never_ will have's" and the "_always_ will have's".

In Sweden and other parts of northern Europe moose are called "ELK". Elk
crossing signs are widespread on just about every highway in Sweden.

A bull moose in rut can do massive damage to a Saab or Volvo so cyclists
need to extra cautious during that time of year.

See Tom, you don't understand why talk radio pundits are successful.
They tap into the _prevailing_ sentiments of the masses. You always try
to make it out as though the tail is wagging the dog.

Liberals continually prove my point. They don't believe in the
individual therefore they can't rationalize independent thinking. They
actually believe all non-Liberals are brain dead zombies.

Lately Tom, your posts/replies lack any real substance or thought.
Give me something man.

What are your thoughts on the Democrat controlled Congress bailing out
Wall St.?
I think it was the only practical thing the Dems could do, I mean
they gotta keep those campaign contributions coming in, they couldn't
just let their cash cow die. Like Obama's $120K from Fannie
during the last 4 years.
McCain is a loser, he's only received $19K from Fannie & Freddie
_combined_ over the last 10 years.
