Cute idea. Trouble I see is that I can go from a state of green to
blinking lights (indicating panic) in a very short time, and back to
green again within a couple of seconds. For another road user to see
what's happening to me and take action in that time is unlikely. It
also gives them something else to amuse themselves with.. "Hey, let see
if we can stress the dude on the bike and make his helmet blink!" As
they seem to find plenty of distractions already, I don't think another
is a good idea.
Just recently a truck driver was distracted near here (Melbourne,
Australia), and drove through a level crossing while the boom gates were
down and lights flashing. The front of the truck cleared the
intersection, but the rear, carrying a load of potatoes I believe, did
not. The train collided with the truck and caused a huge wreck. The
train driver is alive - just, and amazingly just one passenger died as a
result of someone being distracted.
