I am looking at a Columbus Nemo steel bike (Wilier) - from what I have
seen the Nemo tubeset is designed for lighter riders. I weigh around
92kg (195-200lbs). Would a bike like this be a risky proposition, or
would the steel hold up fine? Bike size is 57cm (c-t-c), if that has any
bearing...

If I recall correctly, Nemo is actually one of Columbus' more robust
(i. e. heavy) and moderately priced tubsets. The high end of the line
is represented by Foco and Ultra Foco, the latter of which is
recommended for lighter riders only. Fred

No, your thinking of Columbus Neuron. Nemo is top-of-the-line light
weight professional/race quality frameset up there with Foco and Ultra
Foco.

Nemo is recommended for riders under 175 lbs.

For durability and performance I would recommend the new Zona or if
you can get it Columbus Genius (which is between Neuron and Nemo).

For a rider of your size I'd also consider Reynolds 853.
My order of preference would be:

Columbus DT15V - as in Colnago Master X-light
Reynolds 853
Columbus Genius/Columbus Zona
Columbus Thron/Columbus Neuron

You could use a frame made out of True Temper OX platinum, with 1 1/4
top and down tubes. Stiff enough for 200 pounders.

This is a good lightweight tubeset. I don't think you're too heavy.
Go for it!

In fact, you can get up to 1-3/8" main tubes in OXP. Check out the
tubing specs at:
http://www.truetemper.com/performance_tubing/tubing_oxplat.html

They also have thinner-walled S3 tubes, but I don't think they are
recommended for heavier riders.

That's because if you're too heavy, you're Ultra Foco'd when the frame tacos underneath
you!
