I trashed my fork on a Trek 5500 the other week (and the wheel, and
the Sti's...), and am looking for a replacement. AlthoughI could just
plug in an icon model (1" headset), I never really liked the fork
much. I was wondering what would be a good replacement that wouldn't
affect the handling.
I'm considering the ITM Millenium (carbon steerer), Time New Sprint
Mizuno F3's and Profile BRC.
They are all of similair cost, but the ITM fork has a carbon steerer -
any news on quality of this, or a reason why NOT to choose carbon
steerer?
I'm going to use it with an aheadset (lucky my old one was Chris King,
so I only need to replace a couple of parts), but don't know how to
trim down a carbon steerer (should I get one). Any suggestions?
Any info, tips, suggestions gratefully received.
Cheers,

I've posted on this topic before - I'm rather sceptical about how well a
carbon steerer stands up to the machining necessary to give the crown
race a snug fit. Metal steerers every time for me, personally.
