I am running Michelin Axial Pro 23's on Mavic Open Pros. My tires are getting
a bit gnarly. I was thinking of going with 25 mm tires next. Does anybody
know offhand how wide a tire Open Pros will accomodate?

Thanks,
Joel Solomon

Have cyclo-cross bike with Open pros and Hutchinson Pros 30mm. No problems.
Also I use the Open pros with Continental GP3000 28mm which really look like 25mm.
Again no probs.

I've used Ritchey Tom Slicks, an actual 32 mm size, on these rims with
no problems.

Same here - I've also used Open Pro's for 'cross [1], and they'll quite
happily run 32mm Vittoria Tigrecross tyres. The official Mavic web site
claims that the rims will only take 28mm as the max. tyre width - best
taken with a pinch of salt, I feel.

[1] Swapping to Mavic T221s for the coming UK cyclo-cross season;
heavier, but the wheels need rebuilding and T221s are a bit cheaper (and
should put up with rough treatment even better than Open Pros, which are
themselves pretty durable).

Fair enough. I don't think you'll come across any problem. Just make sure you
inflate the tyres within their recommended pressure.

More salt required! Site says "For 19 - 23 mm tires"

28s are no problem. I'd recommend IRC Triathalon tires in 700x25.
The largest fault that they have is that they are too inexpensive and,
therefore, there is no psychological value.
