I have been a subscriber to Google Groups for many years and can access my groups fine. How can I do a search for other groups on different topics? I don't see a way to do this.

Thanks in advance... Bob

On my Google Groups page on the left hand side there is a column with a number of headings on it.

Under New conversation, there's My Groups and right below that there's Recent groups.

Hope that helps.

Merry Christmas and cheers

No that doesn't help. I want to find groups on a NEW topic that I've never been to before. Suppose I want to find a group on Dachshund dog breeding, etc?

Thanks in advance... Bob

Try this.

Get started with Groups
1. Find and join a group

I don't use google groups but if you google on "google
group+bicycle+tech" (without the quotation marks of course) it will
throw up a lot of messages that have been posted to the site and in
the top R.H. corner allow you to log in.

There isn't necessarily a group for anything you might be interested in but following Rides-a-little's directions you can look and if there isn't you could always start a group on Google. Usually these groups take a long time to catch on so you'd have to do a lot of sole postings to get it moving.

Tom, you could have posted that without the grade school name calling.

I don't think you'll find any Usenet newsgroup specific to dachshund
breeding, but you might find something specific to dachshunds. Using
Forte Agent 8:
Tools -> Newsgroup Directory
and searching for "dachshund", all I could find was:
msn.forums.pets.dogs.breeds.hounds.dachshund
which appears to be dead.

You might have better luck searching for dachshund specific "forums":
<https://www.google.com/search?q=dachshund+forum>
<https://www.google.com/search?q=dachshund+breeding+forum>
There's quite a long list of possible URL's.

Good luck.

This says "In the left panel, click My groups, Recent groups, or All groups." My Groups and Recent Groups are there but All Groups is not a listed option. Is it possible that this is an outdated answer

1. Go thee unto:
<https://groups.google.com>
2. Near the top of the page, you should see a box with "My groups" on
the left, near the magnifying glass icon.
3. In this box, click on the tiny down arrow and select "All groups
and messages".
4. The nearly invisible light gray lettering on a slightly darker
gray background in this box will invite you to "Search all groups and
messages". It doesn't actually search all messages, but don't let
that bother you. Inscribe in the box "Dachshund" and hit <Enter>.
5. Just below the gray box, Google Groups will provide 3 of groups
containing "dachshund" in the name, followed by "+ 73 others". Click
on the "+ 73 others" and you should see 75 Google Group that involve
dachshunds.

When I tried the above, I was logged in with my Google account. When
I log out of all my Google accounts, going to:
<https://groups.google.com>
results in Google demanding that I login or obtain an account. Are
you logged in with a Google account?

If you click on the link I posted you'll see this on the right hand side of the page:
What can you do with Groups?
1. Find and join a group
2. Create a group
3. Create and respond to conversations
4. Collaborate with your team in Groups
5. Manage your subscriptions and groups

Cheers

And related to dog breeding - not that it's my thing ...

Yesterday we heard about someone's cross-breed dog. I was told you can
send in your dog's DNA for a test; and one person's dog tested as half
Toy Poodle, half Great Dane.

I was skeptical such a thing was possible.

Hopefully, the toy poodle was the father.

Ralph, you should be ashamed for even THINKING such a thought! Ever since I read your post, I can't keep certain images out of my mind, and IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT! I think your post pushed me over the edge, mentally, and I'm going to have to check into the psych ward really soon now! I sure hope you're proud of yourself!

Take a look at www.eternal-september.org, set up an account and
use a newsreader. I like tin, but there are many others.

In tin, typing y at the home screen yanks in all available groups,
you can then do a word search using / to search forward.

Probably better luck on Reddit. Also, since Reddit is at least lightly
moderated, you don't have so many off-topic posts, and you don't have
all the trolls. I.e. <https://www.reddit.com/r/Dachshund/>.
