TIA,

Cannot adjust or remove the thing. It is an offshore, lowend, permanently
attached to the hub body. Which means that unless you can overhaul a freewheel,
then you cannot overhaul this one.
< The freehub body has developed some side to
side play that is effecting shifting in the 12-15 gears. >>
Not uncommon with the few I have seen.

Peter,
Unless the Aussie market gets a different Mavic Cosmos rear wheel then I
have performed this maintenance.
I have just completed an overhaul of the Cosmos hub. It had developed about
2mm of larteral movement at the wheel which was frightening at speeds of
80kmph on descent. I removed the freehub, pulled it apart, cleaned and
repacked the 50 balls, bolted it back on to the hub fitted the sealed
bearings and adjusted the wheel without a problem. The seal arrangement is
easily reused unlike Shimano which are fiddly.
I picked up the info to do this from the www.tech-mavic.com site which does
not seem to be working these days (login "mavic-com", P/W "dealer").
Perhaps someone out there has access. However, I do have the PDF files and
they indicate that it is an easy operation.
Oh, I am not convinced as to the source of the lateral movement in my wheel
but the overhaul appears to have fixed it. I guess I will try a couple of
descents and test it out.
