Anybody know of a photo of cross-sections of these tubes I could see
online? Maybe an article that describes the processes used for each.

I'm curious about the rifling in SLX (only at the butts or through the
tube?) I've also been in a discussion over whether Colnago Gilco tubes
are made of SLX or another tube. (Crimping rifled tubes seems like it
might not be such a good idea, but what do I know?)

I know it's not new tech, but interesting to me.

I had a nice Marinoni custom with Columbus SLX back in the late 80's.
If I recalled correctly, the tubes only had the internal reinforcing
ribs at the butted ends of the top tube and down tube, the BB end of
the seat tube, and the BB end of the chainstays. The ribs only
extended a few centimeters into the tubes, and even shorter on the
chainstays. Columbus TSX, on the other hand, had drawn channels that
ran the entire length of certain tubes.

I can't speak with any authority about the Gilco tubes, but I seem to
remember they did not have any reinforcing ribs like SLX or drawn
channels like TSX. I hope this answers your first question in any
case.
