I have heard this from three sources, including one GT dealer. GT does not
honor frame failures when their ball burnished frames are polished. According
to them, the ball burnish process creates a hard shell on the surface of the
tube and poishing will take that surface down a few microns. I suggest a call
down to GT to confirm what I heard. -Dean

Try Cam polish, it's what Santana is recommending for their ball-burnished
aluminum tandem frames. Then wax with Meguires or other high quality,
non-cleaner wax.
