Gang,

I have a Trek Radar computer that I have been using on my Tandem
for quite some time. The Tandem does not get ridden that often and I
will be darned if I can remember how to reset the thing. The past few
times I just sort of pushed at the puttons while meditating resetting
thoughts towards it and succeeded. Today it is not working.

Before I drop $20 or $30 on a new cycle computer (to replace one
with which I have no real issues...), I thought I would check here
first. Does anyone know how to reset a Trek Radar? Can anyone
provide me with a scanned copy of the instruction sheet? Trek's web
site is useless in this regard.

Any help greatly appreciated.

I used to know how!

You should be able to reset the unit by holding down both buttons for
more than three to five seconds. It must _not_ be in the clock mode
when doing this.

If that doesn't work, there should be an all-clear button on the back of
the unit [you will lose any odometer reading if you hit this button.]

From the Trek Radar manual:

Resetting Cycle Functions to Zero-

To reset the computer values for the regular operation mode values of TM,
DST, AV, and MX, in any mode except ODO, press and hold BOTH the right and
left buttons simultaneously for about 1 second. The display will flash and
reset these values to zero. Caution: holding both buttons down for more than
3-4 seconds accesses the initial set up mode. Not a good thing.

So to just reset your DISTANCE after each ride, just leave it in DST, and
hold both bottons for a second to clear it back to 0.

Hmmm... That sounds amazingly like what I remembered and what I
was trying to do. I may have a balky computer. Perhaps it is time
for an "upgrade".

Thanks to all that took the time to reply.

I have a question too.
First, I just bought a Trek 'Fusion' puter [$32] and imagine the operation
is probably close to the one you have. As posts here suggest, pushing both
the 'set' and 'mode' buttons simultaneously 'resets' all the last trip
information. And as posts here say, pushing small pin on back clears the
memory to factory settings [date and wheel size will have to be re-entered
etc].

Question: My shop talked me into the Trek Fusion when I really wanted a
Cateye. He said everyone was giving raves on the Fusion. So, I bought it.
So far, I hate it. For the very reason above since when you remove the
puter from the bike, it is very easy to push both 'mode and set' buttons
together resetting and losing all the current trip information. Plus, I
detect an instablity that's not clear as it reset once on it's own in the
middle of ride? Not sure why that was. IMHO and after only 4 rides, the
Trek is an inferior product compared to the Cateye's I've been using. But
maybe it will grow on me...who knows.

So, why did my shop 'unload' this on me? Was it slow stock he dumped on me?
I gotsta and wantsta trust my bike shop...right? Tell me if isn't so. So,
I'm wondering if it's just my ornery opinion of the Fusion that's off...and
maybe others out there really do like these Trek computers? Any comments?
