Subject line says it all... how does it rate against the other Kleins?
What makes it different?

Thanks,
Ted

The Stage was an entirely different product. Different tubing, different
welding technique, different paint (so they were a bit heavier and didn't
look as nice). The only thing they really had in common with current Kleins
was geometry. They weren't bad bikes, but they were a significant marketing
mistake. The stuff that makes a Klein so special was exactly what was
lacking. The idea was to broaden the appeal of Klein by bringing it down in
price, but it was a way-wrong idea, and created a massive overstock
situation, resulting in those bikes being closed out very inexpensively.
The Stage in particular was un-Klein-like, since it combined a pretty rigid
frame with a so-so aluminum fork. The Stage Comp had a carbon fork and rode
considerably nicer.

Again, it's not like they were bad bikes or anything...they just weren't
Kleins as we know and love them.

Hi

I am the owner of not only one Stage but also a Quantum II and
I think that Mike is right in most of what he writes below, but he is
wrong about the geometry.
The Stage do NOT have the same geometry as the Quantum.
Thats the major reason I bought the Stage, I use it for Audax-
riding. The longets so far is 1000km in 70 hours.
For that type of riding it is VERY good, stifff and efficient but also
comfortable.
But Mike is right about the fork, I exchanged it and got a nicer
ride.
