Florida has been building a lot of bike trails. The Suncoast Trail has
been extended to 55 miles and it is already connected to the 75 mile
Pinellis Loop Trail and the 16 mile Upper Tampa Bay Trail. There's a
new trail running along Ridge Road that will soon connect the Suncoast
Trail to Port Richey and Land 0 Lakes. There's another bike trail
along 6 miles of Highway 50 connecting the Suncoast to Brooksville and
then on to the 46 mile Withlacoochee Trail via the already built 10
Mile Good Neighbor Trail. The Withlaccochee has a couple of bike trail
offshoots. I see well over 250 miles of interconnected bike trails
accessing many of the cities and towns in this general area without
riding with any vehicular traffic except a few miles within
Brooksville.
That's just today, but there are still unfunded plans to connect all
the way to Orlando adding the Van Fleet Trail, and Polk City to the
list. There are also quite a few suburban type trails in Orlando.
