They are on the schwinn mountain bikes sold in department stores. They
have aluminum hub with holes to put disk brakes if you want to
upgrade. The rim surface where the spokes attache is oval instead of
flat. I thought that was a feature only expensive wheels had?

I have some Swift Arriv 700c wheels I bought because they looked good
and were less than $AU100 for the pair.

I thought to myself that as Stars Circle are about the biggest rim
manufacturer on planet Earth - how could I go wrong......

The answer is that they are complete crap. Regular broken spokes
followed by time on the truing stand. Tension up all the spokes nice
and evenly - go for a ride and face doing it all again.

After the third $AU50 dollar taxi ride home I realized that had I
bought something better, I would have actually been in front
financially.

The bike in question now wears a set of Shimano RS10 wheels which have
never given the slightest problem.

The Swift Arriv wheels are hanging on the wall in the bike room as a
monument to stupidty.

It's quite common for the styling of quality bike parts to trickle
down to department store bikes minus the actual quality. That said, it
doesn't hurt to dial even a cheaper wheelset up to tension and see if
it lasts. If the stock brakes are really gimpy quality, just upgrading
to Tektro Vs which are ~$12us per end can make a huge difference.

Would you sell the wheels? I read they suck but I want them for my beach cruiser for the same reason you got them, I love their look (They come in the Prodeco top of the line electric bike)
Since I only ride on smooth road, hence I have a cruiser, and they will not be abused at all maybe they'll do the job. What do you think?
