some days ago I saved a bike from being recycled the hard way. My
intention as I took it home was to replace my trashed commuter, but
further inspection made me think it could be a nice bike for longer
sunday rides...
I would be thankful if someone could provide some information about the
components and an educated guess about the year this bike/components
was/were built.
* Frame (steel): Garlatti, "Made in Italy", lugged with Columbus Zeta
tubing
* Derailers: Campagnolo "(Nuovo) Gran Sport", front clamp-on.
* Five-speed cogset: 15-17-19-21-23
* Campagnolo downtube shifters
* Crankset: Campagnolo "(Nuovo?) Gran Sport" 52/42. Aluminium, I
guess.
* Brake levers and calipers (with quick-release): Galli
* Stem and Handlebar: 3TTT
* Headset: Garlatti
* Wheels: Campagnolo hubs, rims Nisi "Toro (3?)", tubular tires
Hutchinson "Made in Italy" (max 6 ATM); Campagnolo quick-release.
* Campagnolo seatpost (26.4 mm) with two bolts
At the left is chromed chain-stay one can read "Yves Corsa". Could
that be the bike model?
The bike works perfectly, even the tires are OK.
The paint is in very bad shape and the seat-tube has a dent (about 3 cm
x 2 cm) near the bottom bracket at the inside of the front-triangle (I
can't imagine how someone managed to do this...). No sign of rust as I
could see. How good is this Zeta tubing? I was thinking, if this is a
nice frame I could let a frame builder "undent" the seat-tube (is this
doable?) and do a new paint job... Is it worth?
How about this "Gran Sport" components? How good they are?
