Does anyone have a manual for the Vetta HR 1000 they would be willing
to copy or scan?

They are available on Vetta's website in pdf format.

Try this:
http://www.vetta.com/Manual_Tech.html

'Manuals for discontinued products'
Click on either 'C-Series', or 'V-Series'...should bring you to:

Thanks ED3, that did it. For some reason it never occurred to me to
look under "V-Series" for an "HR-Series" manual. Now I just need to
find a printer that will print out a 45 inch page....

So - slightly off topic but...

How do you like the HR1000? I've been thinking of getting
one since it combines the cyclecomputer and HRM functions.

Thanks

where would you buy one outside of ebay??? i bought mine in the 80s i
think, on closeout from performance or nashbar and even though i could have
sworn there was a cadence feature, pulling it out of "moth ball" a couple of
months ago, it works great for me. the HR feature was good too, but i had
nothing to compare it to. i have since misplaced the HR aparatus though.

It's a nice little unit. It worked well for what I got it for, which
was to monitor my heart rate during indoor training. I've since
decided that I hate indoor training. As a result is now on ebay - see
my posting on rec.bicycles.marketplace, if you're interested.

I have a V100HR. I really like the fact that it does it all. The only
real complaint I have is that the HRM transmitter eats batteries, and
needs to be very wet to work properly. Other than that, the thing does
works as advertised. Records max/min average heart rate, has a target
HR beep (very annoying until you are warmed up), avg and max cadence,
speed, dual timers, partridge in a pear tree.

However, the ultimate cyclometer for me is the Cateye MSC-3DX... Does
all of the V100HR, but logs every minute for downloading to your PC.
Then, it's charts and graphs of the entire trip. Hours of fun pouring
over useless information! :)

I'm still waiting for a custom GPS with cadence and HRM functions...

Supergo sells a re-badged HR-1000 called the HRM1000. I have two of
them in addition to three Vetta HR-1000s. They're exactly the same
except for the color of the buttons. Also hard to beat the price. See:

http://www.supergo.com/itemlist.asp?id=24&subid=1512&company=Supergo

BTW, There's also a link on the Supergo site to download the manual in
.pdf format.
