Hi

Could someone please tell me some of the advantages and disadvantages with
SRAM Spectro S7 (7g) and Shimano Nexus (7g).

SRAM advantages:

.Wider gear range
.Easier wheel change
.Small internal parts can be replaced if needed for service/repair

Shimano advantages:

.Closer gear spacing
.Shift linkage is inboard of chainstay, out of harm's way
.Internal service by replacing modular units, easier than the SRAM
.Choice of twist-grip or RapidFire shifter

I see by your email address that you're in Denmark. If Denmark is as
flat as I have heard, the closer gear spacing of the Shimano is probably
better for your conditions.

The SRAM's wider range would make it preferable for riding in hilly terrain.

More efficient (Frank Berto measured this for Human Power, the journal of the
IHPVA)...sorry I can't find the exact results right now.

harder to remove the shift cable from the hub though (even harder if you have
a chaincase)

Easier, but more expensive. You are basically replacing the guts of the
entire hub. On my SRAM hub I had one small part fail and was able to just
replace that (for under $1).

I have both and prefer the SRAM, but I live in hilly Seattle.

But what about the friction? It has been said, that the Shimano unit has
more internal friction than the SRAM. My wife has a bike with Shimano 7
speed internal gear-hub, and it feels very heavy.
