I just noticed that Shimano's two new MTB groups for 2009, Saint M810
and SLX M660 (Deore LX is being rebranded for touring/trekking) only
have rapidfire shifters, no Dual Control flippers.

Anybody here going to miss them?

I've already replaced the (seperate) rapidFire front shifter on my MTB
for an old above-bar friction model for the same reason I abandoned the
STI's on my road machine for barcons (index rear, friction front). So I
can fne tune the front mech.

So no. It's doubtfull I will miss them.

Funny thing you should bring up that "Deore LX is being rebranded for
touring".

Touring was what Deore was originally concieved for!

I also noticed that these groups do not have rapid-rise RDs, nor
traditional body top-normal ones, only "Shadow" style.
