I understand that as to Shifters, Campagnolo is rebuildable and
Shimano is not. For the older 9 speed Shimano Dura Ace 7700 series,
is this absolutely correct. Has anyone rebuilt a Dura Ace 7700 shifter,
and specifically the left?

thanks!

Here's a link to a guy who has taken apart AND put back together both DA 9 and Ultegra 9 STI levers, with photos:

The biggest problem you'll find is Shimano, unlike Campy, doesn't sell any replacement parts. So, if you need a spring or washer or whatever, you'll probably have to cannabalize it from another STI lever. Good Luck!

Here's a link to a guy who took apart AND put back together a DA 9 and
Ultegra 9 STI shifters, including some excellent photos:

The biggest problem you will have is finding small parts. Unlike
Campy, Shimano doesn't sell replacement parts, so if you need a
spring, washer, etc., you'll have to cannabalize another STI shifter.
Good Luck!

Wow, thank you for that link. And it looks like quite a job.
