Is it possible to fit mudguards to this bike? There don't seem to be any
mudguard eyes on the forks, but I remember reading in a NG once that they
can be fitted to any bike using "P" clips, how do these work?
Lastly how big is the frame on this bike? I am 5'10" and my current bike, a
Claud Butler Roubaix has a 21" compact frame. I have had to buy a 400mm
seatpin to get the right seat height on this bike. Is the Barracuda also a
compact frame, because if it is I think I would need to go up a size to 22"?
TIA
Seem OK. A few niggles about the build quality.

There isn't really the clearance. I don't know about salmon guards but
whatever you put in would have to be very accurate.

Not supposed to be compact by the looks of it. I believe the frame does go
up to 23.5"

FYI there are a bunch of Barracuda Azzuri and Tifosi bikes on eBay
right now for between £75 - £150. Pretty good price if you can snag
one.....

Auctions all end within next 24 hours so you'll have to be quick.
The retailer selling them regularly auctions these bikes so if you
don't get one of these keep an eye out becasue they'll prolly list
another batch soon.

I have never seen such rubbish in all my life ! they are cheap for a reason,
they are crap. no just poor quality, but crap. kids bikes. end of.
wheels are made of plasticine [sp] and all of the components are lame.
the frames *look* shiny but remember, the sour aftertaste of poor quality
lasts a lot longer than the sweet taste of a bargain.
go to a bike shop with a wad of cash and, imho, you'll be surprised
what you can get for a couple of hundred quid. stretch to £250, umm and ahh
for 30 mins and you'll get all sorts of extras thrown in.
hope this helps

Mixture of components. Shimano Sora gears? What else would you expect on
this kind of bike?
The wheels are the likes you'd get on a low end hybrid, but the OP was going
to change them.

The RRP for an azzuri is 370 quid.
I think you are talking about something else.
it's still a baracuda. you will get a much better bike for £250 in your local shop
and if you are prepared to spend £370 you will get a much *much* better bike
than a barracuda !
*everyone* I asked pre purchase warned me off barracuda bikes.
Supercycles [eg] in Nottingham do mail order, have a website [ being updated]
are cool people to deal with and have up to 50% off ( genuine ) in a relocation
sale, cash talks and all that, and they have some really nice bikes in stock.
I know what I'd do
hth & caveat emptor :-)

No you won't.
There are no road bikes at less than 300 quid that have 8 speed STi gearing.
GIANTs cheapest offering is 425, and the dawes200 at 370 quid has 14 gears,
same for the similar saracen.
Claude butlers are at similar prices to the barracudas.
The Decathalon 7.1 is probably less than 300 at the moment - but that'll be
on offer, and its got rather a poor range of gears.

I'm sure that the dawes or saracen would be quite nice, but certainly not
exceptional.
I still don't think you know we are talking about road bikes.
> No you won't.
I did, in fact I got two.
> There are no road bikes at less than 300 quid that have 8 speed STi gearing.
I'm looking at three, right now... took me less than 5 minutes to find.
including a saracen 24speed at £300

these are rrps ? wtf does that mean ? nothing when you have cash in you hand.
or are you buying on credit ? if so then the rrp is even more meaningless when
you factor in the intrest.. I would expect a minimum 15% discount for cash and
in practice I got nearly 45% when I bought two bikes... go figure. play shops off
against each other and you will be surprised ...

well fock off and buy a manky barracuda then .. go on, do it ... please :-)
I may be a recent returnee to cycling but I'm a past master at cash bargains.
I was just trying to tell you what several BIKE SHOP OWNERS AND
REGULAR RIDERS told me... three bike shops I spoke to stopped selling
barracudas because of the poor quality and the subsequent complaints.
really, do what you like ...just don't come back moaning that the rims are
shagged after a month and try'n not feel too bad when people smirk when
you say "I have a barracuda azzuri and I paid £370 for it "
albert
/sheesh... y' can't help some folk...
I have just found your barracuda azzuri for sale, plenty in stock for £299.99
stick that in your headstock and clamp it !
albert
Go on then LINKS. It won't be rrp, it probably won't be an item with
complete availability (ie a few sizes from last years range)

Its the guide price. Good for comparing like with like.
Can't just go looking at bargains - they don't exist for long and aren't
available everywhere.
Ever tried phoning up web page things? I did and the bargain had been out of
stock for 6 months.
If you are talking about new, well reputed makes you won't get them for much
less than rrp.

So you weren't talking about road bikes then.

repeat for the lame of brain:

links ? for you ?
no. go pay ott for a lamermobile, I'm sure you'll look good together...
albert
<pointless vitriol snipped>
Is this your first thread on usenet? Because if it is, I'd like to
remind you that it helps if you know what you're talking about, and
aren't rude to people, no matter how much they ignore your 'advice'. I
also suggest you learn that a road bike is one with big skinny wheels
and drop handlebars.
Also, it would be kind of you to share that link for a Barracuda
Azzurri at £299, as there are other readers of this newsgroup who may
be in the marked for a cheap road bike, and know how to work out what
they're getting.

Well no, as there are special offer barracudas out there at much less than
that.
I actually stated there were no road bikes out there at 300 quid.
So two things you fail to address.
1) I still think that you hadn't realised we were talking about road bikes.
"racers". not mountain bikes. with STi too.
Hence nowt for 250 quid.
2) If you have found a nice 300 quid saracen with 24 gears then let's see
it. Is it a last years item? Is it actually a MTB you found?

Well note. your claim I was talking about was:
"it's still a baracuda. you will get a much better bike for £250 in your
local shop"
So go on then, where is it.
Am I the one thats lame in the brain when you jump up and down holding out
the complete opposite of what you were saying.
I'll explain.
I'd like to see a road bike that is less than 300 quid from another
manufacturer.
Thats:
I'd like to see a (1)road bike that is (2) less than 300 quid (3)from
another manufacturer.
well 1 right out of 3 aint bad. But you weren't really aware of (1).
yawn... I'm not the one trying to buy an overpriced barracuda, am I ?
whoops, I nearly gave you the like then
see ya
