They're all people who I know personally. Two are deceased, but were
left in place because I help manage their accounts should there be any
residual comments. 8-10 years later, I'm still reading messages from
acquaintances who didn't know that they were dead. Of my 56 Facebook
friends, I don't know how many I maintain regular phone or email
contact. Probably about half.
Some of the names (nyms) look rather odd, but makes sense to those who
know the individuals. This seems like a good time to do some
housekeeping. If you're keeping score, I added 3 friend requests for
a total of 59.

There are a few that I could probably safely "unfriend" or "block" so
that I don't see everything they do and every place they go. Maybe
later.
I tried to find my "timeline" to check when I last logged into
Facebook, but couldn't find it among the clutter. Help wasn't much
help.
Interestingly, most of the ads that appeared were for bicycles or
bicycle related items. I guess Facebook is following me around the
internet.

Possibly because you chronically present yourself as a victim but more
likely because those people are trying to get you send them money.

You could also Google for some hints:
<
https://www.google.com/search?q=how+do+I+unfriend+on+facebook>
Yech... the first hit from the Facebook help page seems like the most
tedious and user hostile method they could contrive.

"Unfriend" still works but is a little difficult to find:
<

Looks like you have 157 friends I can't see the list but you should
be able to see everyone when you're logged into Facebook. There
should be a gray button to the right of each photo labeled "Friends"
or the name of a group. Left click. The last choice is "unfriend".
As for my friends elsewhere, you'll find some of my business contacts
on LinkedIn and some junk (mostly testing) on Twitter, Instagram, and
probably some others which are mostly learning exercises so I can
answer my customers questions.
