I have had a Gios bike for the last 6 months.....Always previously had
Giant's CFR1 Carbon Fibre.
The gios in Australia is distributed by a company called BRB Enterprises
out of Sydney, they have some great info about the bike.
I have tried to locate a Web site for Gios ....but no luck...every other
frame is available.
A couple of teams rode this frame during the Tour De France.
The bike I have is a Compact Pro.....and yes you are right....it is mode
from Columbus Tubing similar I think to SLX, TSX or greater.
The frame is well put together.
The rear stay also has adjustable mountings for the rear wheel which
allows moments of the wheel dependant of race type.
Please consider......

I always thought that Gios used Dedaccia(sp?) tubing. Maybe Columbus
makes it? Maybe not? Anyone else out there have any ideas/input?
Excel Sports says that indeed it is Dedaccia (don't have the 'zine in front of
me), and they are an independent, high end steel tube manafacture. I would
hope that Excel has the right information. Can anyone second this? chris.

Chris,
I pulled an Excel Catalog and yes, it is Dedaccia tubing. And given
the the Gios name I would expect it to be made in Italy.
Vini, Vidi, Velo....

Dedacciai (correct spelling) is in fact an Italian steel company. I
believe it was started by the Locatelli brothers who previously were
employed by Columbus.
Their high end product, 18MCDV6, is a heat-treated micro-alloyed steel
(don't ask me what that means). Pinarello, Bianchi, & Gios all use
their tubing and I believe numerous, some, a few, maybe 2 (pick one)
riders rode bikes using Dedacciai tubing in the Tour this past year.
Brent Steelman currently makes frames from this tubing and is in fact
the US distributor.
Peace. The "Riding a Dedacciai Tubed Steelman and Loving It" Berg.
Ride easy, its the off-season.....
