A couple days ago, my friend noticed that the frame was separating from
the head tube on his Mongoose IBOC team SX. He took it in and is in the
process of getting a new frame. I was wondering though, has anyone out
there had a similar experience with this bike?

Thanks for any input

Depends. is this the 91-3 welded AL model? I had one of those crack at the
seattube/seatstay weld.

is it the 94 bonded carbon? I had a set of bottle bosses come unglued but
nothing structural

is it an early 95 bonded carbon? they had massive warranty replacement
problems because the frames kept separating at the joints. I believe your
friend's head tube location is typical of the problem.

It's the '95 model, but im not sure if its the early version... do you
have any idea how I can tell? I have the same bike he does, except its
smaller. He's getting a new frame, I guess its just a matter of time
before my frame cracks too.

thanks
