Now after about 1100 miles on my new Habanero Disk bike it has really gotten pretty smooth. Today after a 60 mile ride I decided to wipe the bike down and clean the chain. Was not really dirty but good to get it cleaned and lubed. I cannot tell any difference in the ride between this and the Habanero rim brake bike. They got the frames to feel the same.

My one question is brake squeal when wet. I have not road as such in rain but one morning I went out when it was wet and misty. I did notice the brakes squeaking pretty loud really but once it dried up that went away. Is that pretty much normal and do any of you notice this?

The pads are resin and I inspected them today and basically not much wear at all. I would imagine I could get at least 5000 miles on them if not a lot more. They say swap if less than .9 mm. These have at least 2.5 mm of material and not much has been taken down. I don't brake a lot on the roads out here so makes sense.

It’s normally if they have muck etc particularly if wet.

Which if your very light on them is more likely to do so, my bikes get used
off road and I tend to brake at times hard so that cleans off the
rotor/pads.

My Gravel bike gets 2k out of them but it’s only it’s 2nd set so have to
see how it goes.

My MTB I’m not sure as it’s on a new set (of brakes) I’d assume less than
the Gravel bike but possibly not? In that both get used hard and in
revolving conditions!

Commute bike is on much older technology so just over 1 k.

Yet another disc brake advantage! No need for a horn or bell! :-)

Since I changed the calipers to short pull, I've never heard a whimper
from them, wet or dry. Getting them on correctly and set correctly is
important.

One of the Giro stages last week was a mountain stage in horrible weather. They had video of the peloton descending some of the switchbacks to a cacophony of squealing disc brakes.

My experience with my brakes is that in very wet conditions after a period on non braking the first time you apply the brakes they will start to squeal. If you let loose for a moment and apply the brakes again the don’t squeal anymore. On my CX bike they do that the first couple of times and after that no more for the rest of the ride. I brake a lot more on a off road ride on my crossbike as I do on my gravel bike.

Sounds like the experience of Giro riders is different.

I don't think so. Slowing for a sharp corner after descending in the rain will make the brakes squeal. Modulating might help as Lou suggests, but it's going to happen initially. When you have 100 riders braking at the same time there will be a lot of noise.
