Daytona is evolutionary Athena. Some carries over, some is brand new (Hubs,
crank arms). Lighter but roughly comparable in performance.
R / John
Starting from the front-
Athena ERGO levers ran on a cart bearing and had a carbon body
Daytona rides on a bushing and body is plastic(a relabeled Veloce lever)
Athena brake calipers were Chorus w/o a spring adjust and a cheaper barrel
adjuster.
Daytona are Veloce calipers with a Mirage cable holder and 1999 Record brake
blocks and holders
Athena headset was a Chorus w/o a polished upper race
No Daytona headset
Athena BB was a double cart BB, smooth and unique.
Daytona is a hollow axle BB version of Veloce
Athena and Daytona cranks are the same down to the name Campagnolo on the bolts
Athena front der didn't exist(gruppo used Chorus)
Daytona is a 1999 Veloce front der
Daytona Rear der is a 1999 Veloce rear der.
Big differece in the hubs
Athena were basically a 'no oil hole' version of Chorus but had a slightly
differnent freehub body and axle
Daytona hubs are Record with a plastic adjustment plate and steel pawl carrier
Athena cogsets didn't exist-were Chorus
Daytona are MK.1, not spidered together
what did I forget?
Essentially, for 2000, Veloce became Daytona, Mirage became Veloce and Mirage
is a bit different, a blend of Mirage and Avanti-which is gone-
