Actually the raleigh chopper lives on. They have just been relaunched
with much fanfare in the UK. The three speed gear change has gone
though. Back to the original point I think that manufaturers are
involved in an ugly bike contest they havent told us about. Entrants
include the Pinarello Dogma, the Kuota Ksano, The Cinelli Carbon XLR8R 2
etc etc

Yes, I've seen one. I had one of the 1970s originals and these have
lost the two best features - the T-shift and the banana seat :-( I
expect it's still a pig to ride though.
