Don't know, I wasn't aware of the term "Fred" and to be honest,
I think it SUCKS. I think "Barney" would be a more proper description. I think
I'll change my name anyway.....
-Fred.
I've heard Betty used with both positive and negative connotations.....
The funniest to me was "Bolt on Betty" ie: woman with breast implants.....guess
she would need full suspension.... :)

Ride Hard...Fall Harder
Just met a young woman with a Trek 5200, very strong rider. However,
because she has toe straps and wears a windbreaker in August, she said
people back in the Quad Cities called her "Fred". (No fanny pack or bar
mirror, however.)

Gee, since I hit three of the four of those (all four if you
call a Camelbak a fannypack) categories, I should be able to vote.
Call me "Happy." As in "happy to be tooling down the road and
I don't care how geeky I look."

mid-calf socks: check!
toe straps: no, sorry, still riding with standard pedals
fanny pack: Stopped using that when I got my HANDLEBAR BAG! :^)
rearview mirror mounted on handlebar: check!
helmet: check!
cap under helmet (to soak sweat and protect bald head): check!
cotton tee (no jersey unless it's really hot): check!
other various and sundry un-"cool" things: check!
Well, I guess I qualify. You can call me Fred. You can call me Wilma.
As long as I'm able to get out and ride, it doesn't matter what I look
like to you or what you call me.
"Just pedal!"

- Girls' style frame?
- Helmet worn back on her head like a cap - so her curls
show?
- Wicker handlebar basket with flower trim?
- Windchimes for a warning device?
- Pastel plaid shorts?
- Strappy sandals? or high heeels?
I'm sure you all will have good (and amusing) suggestions.
