I've been trying to dope out why I was making 4,000 miles a year now and 8,000 miles a year 5 years ago.

Finally it hit me. Although the rides are still the same 25 miles or so, 5 years ago I was riding to and from the rides and often taking long cuts. This was particularly strong on the Thursday Ride when I was riding 49 miles or more down to Sunol and back around Upper Happy Valley Rd. This also added nearly another 1,000 feet of climbing or even more if the group was there and some wanted to go down Niles Canyon and back over Palomares which would add an additional 1700 feet. Also the Tuesday ride instead of 25 miles would be 37 with another 800 feet of climbing.

Now that my friend has moved back down to Arizona, I do easy Saturday, Sunday rides when I we used to do 55 or 60 miles with an extra 800 feet of climbing. So, that is why I'm at 4,000 miles or so instead of 8,000 and 125,000 feet of climbing instead of 250,000.

But I can take it if you can.
