TRAVELING in the South of France in recent weeks, João Correia, a
former
Manhattan publishing executive who shed 60 pounds in recent years,
found
temptation everywhere: oven-fresh baguettes dabbed in oozy Camembert,
sugary tartes Tatin. A morning pain au chocolat, washed down with a
rich café
au lait? Off limits. ...

A former professional cyclist who last raced at age 21, he left the
sport for a
desk job and, over a decade, ballooned toward the weight of two
professional
cyclists. Now, at 34, he is back, at an age when many riders are ready
to retire.
He hopes to compete in the Giro d’Italia or the Tour de France in
coming years. ...

Hey, from a Manhattan publishing job to the 12K (24K?)
dream with Cervelo ...

I thought JFT might have posted about this guy before,
Google didn't turn that up but did find a few posts by
Correia to rbr in 1995. At that rate, 14 years from now,
maybe we can turn pro too. Well, those of us who were
once promising juniors, anyway. I think that rules out
everybody except Mike Jacoubowsky and maybe Sundquist.

From 'Analyze This':

Jelly: I'm gonna get a bite to eat. You wanna sandwich or somethin'?
Guard: What kind of sandwich ain't too fattening?
Jelly: A half a sandwich.

There you have it, diet advice from the fattest guy in the room!

I got sucked in by the line "I'm training for the Masters World
Championships", until it was followed by "they are held on Tuesday
nights".

Pretty sad to see a guy like this take a spot on a top level pro team.
He can barely finish a pro race in the US and he is now on a pro tour
level team. There are thousands of riders more deserving than him for
this spot!!! Very SAD!!!!!
