He managed his efforts perfectly in the Giro, beating some guys who
were better climbers.
Today he did it again. Of course it helped that Sebastian Hinault was
weak, but note how Salvoldelli got rid of Gerrans, then rode not quite
at the limit w/ Hinault on his wheel, trying to bait Hinault into going
past so he could take his wheel. Then Hinault blew and Salvodelli gave
it full gas.
Smart motherfucker. He was getting almost no cooperation (except for
that burst from Gerrans) from the other guys and he still takes it.
Nice work.
Poor Arvesen. He was strong.

Stunning how completely Hinault blew up in the last 100 meters. Only when
you look at the overhead do you see how much gas Savo gave it, coming from
about 10 meters back and then just zooming ahead of Arvesen to win by 10
meters. In the forward view you couldn't tell how hard Savo was working.
Awesome talent.
I couldn't help but smile and laugh at the 'excited puppy' reception he got
at the team bus. That was great.

He had me worried for a while, but no matter, it only added to the final
rush.

That was a great ride by Salvodelli. On OLN they showed Hinaults HR at
178 when he was behind Salvodelli with a max of 195, which I figured
had him absolutely pegged in week 3 of the tour.

You are ON today! First the thing about Ullrich snarfing strudels and
now this. Nice work!

Sheesh - the guy's name is spelled -for- you in the message header,
fercryinoutloud.
Instead of owning up to it, you try and blame Sherwin. Guess you know what
that makes you, lol.

You ASSUME that I was confused for the entire Giro and that I had my ass
parked in front of the TV as opposed to listening to the commentary while
doing other things. If something of major interest is happening, then I
watch.

It was a happy coincidence that Hinault's one of the riders wired for
Polar's HR updates. His assessment of his condition ("in the red") is
verified by the numbers (175 with max 195).

Who is Salvodelli?
And why do I picture WAVES of lunchmeat being launched through the air
whenever I see (or hear) that name?

Who is Paul Sherwin?

Or a moral victory perhaps.
>Poor Arvesen. He was strong.
Have to agree on that. Did he blew his chances by waiting too long
before going after Hinault/Savoldelli in the last climb? The downhill
chase virtually without help must have taken its toll.

He also had the legs, which are a nice complement to his brains.

No he made an error - he should have waited for the sprint. Arvesen
was by far the fastest of them.

Yes, probably, but it was difficult for him to know. If he was to
sprint against Savoldelli only no problem, but Hinault would have been
tougher, if it was not for the fact that he was totalyy knackered.
