Well, I finally got the latest proper printing of this "mt-bike"
book back from the printer. Thought I'd let you all know.
It's probably not going to be available many places, but I have
put out review copies to the intelligent mags. I'll take out class
ads there, too.

"The Dirt Road Rider's Trek Epic", by Victor Vincente of America.

A unique book. Find me anything else close and I'll buy it!
"Off the Map" about the touring rigors of Siberia by Mark Jenkins
is maybe halfway there. No cycling book really comes close.
This topical area was, until now, an EMPTY niche on the shelf:
mt-bike culture and lore from the deep well.

Contents:

*Epic prose poem about days and nights in the cultural outback.
*Art reproductions from top mt-bike artists plus much of VVA's
own handiwork reproduced and available affordably to order:
amazing coins, medallions, postcards, t-shirts, posters, bandannas.
*Reprints of a wide variety of newspaper and magazine articles about
this outlaw hero of ours.
*Reprints of choice portions of his own classic cult underground
dirt newsletter.

Claim to fame:

VVA is a member of the mt-bike hall of fame and
a contender for the road bike hall of fame. He's the first modern day
winner of Euro races (translations of Italian articles included).
Victor of first USCF Natl Road Champs. Set first serious
'RAAM'-like record, which partly inspired RAAM: a nonstop
doubletrans. Produced one of earliest series of commercially available
mt-bikes (20"wheel). Hosted and guided early epic offroads races
and tours. ALL ALL ALL of this done UNSPONSORED and UNHERALDED
in dark early days (but lots of fun in early mt-biking). Thus we see
why the influence of ROADKILL JERKY and other ROADPRIZE in VVA's life
and times. He's King 'Do It Yourself.' (Early training trick: water in
the innertubes for secret weight.) Largely responsible for
underground voodoo mystic of mt-biking---he be the grand
old cult dirt guru daddy. What's more, he's a fine
artist of amazing minted and sculpted coinage, celebrating much in
the way of dirt and heroes. Clothing designer. Electric jewelry inventor.
Author of classic underground epic literature. ALL THIS IN ONE
WILD CHAMPION. A little too rich to believe. But it's true. Who else
has come close? Bob Roll writes and rides---he's pretty good. All this
is MUCH further out, deeper, older and I daresay better. (Just ask Bob.)

Find out for yourself. I find that his Epic holds up to any standards
of general literature and is of general interest. (I've seen it all.)
A bit like Bukowski meets Jim Harrison meets Richard Brautigan.
But with something more and special definitely added. Not derivative!
The blurred vision of sweat, dirt and jerky mixed with years of rolling,
rolling, rolling are a uniquely helpful window to the world.

Email me to order. $15 postpaid. 8.5x11, 120pp.
